WEEK of SUNDAY June 22, 2025 through SATURDAY the 30th, 2025
SUNDAY: Before church, I went to Panera and got a drink and then to CITIZENS to get some cash out of the ATM. It said my card was not valid so I was unable to get any cash. After church, there was a Seniors (CONNECT) event: lunch at the Parkside Diner which is not really a diner, it is more like a drive in type place. There were 26 or 27 people there. I had the chicken sandwich, which was very good. Part of the plan for the event was to go next door to HALF BAKED for ice cream, but I don't think anybody went. I stopped at NorthWest to try to get some cash. I was not sure of my password, so I tried two different ones, but neither one of them worked. At home, I took a nap and then I talked with Peggy on the phone, fiming up plans for tomorrow when we will go to Shirley Hazel's funeral. Peggy will be doing the funeral, so we are leaving early. We may or may not go to the meal afterwards. I worked a little bit on sorting and getting things together to pack up for Megan and Christa and watched part of 60 Minutes which featured a segment about whales off of the coast of DOMINICA. I told Megan about it. I found MADAM BLANC MYSTERIES on Hoopla and was able to watch episode four of the first season. I watched the first three episodes on PBS last night.
MONDAY: I met up with Peggy at her house and she drove us to Niagara Falls for Shirley Hazel's funeral. She was a friend from church. She attended my Tuesday morning Life Group until she had surgery about eight months ago. Unfortunately, she never recovered from that surgery and has been in and out of nursing homes, hospital and rehab facilities every since then, until she passed away a few days ago.
Peggy did the funeral, it was her first time doing a whole funeral and she did a great job! After the funeral, Peg and I went to the gravesite, and then to a restaurant in Lewiston where they offered a funeral meal. Cindi brought Betty, Glenda and Vicky to the funeral and to the restaurant. We all agreed during the meal to go to HIBBARDS for frozen custard. I had a small chocolate almond cone and it was delicious. It was a very hot day, so we all had to eat fast! After returning to Lockport, I spent the rest of the day at home. As I was getting up from my nap, I saw the news that Iran and Israel have agreed to a ceasefire. I hope it is permanent. In the evening, I watched three episodes of SCAMANDA, about a woman who faked having cancer, and was always asking for financial support, and scammed many people out of thousands of dollars.
TUESDAY: I went to the Tuesday morning Life Group. There were ten of us in attendance. After that, Peggy and I went to the Lockport AAA to purchase trip insurance. There was some sort of mixup in our appointment since there is nobody there named Debby and no record of our one p.m. appointment. However, Amanda seemed to be free so she took care of us and did a wonderful job. It is all purchased and ready to go. While there, I applied for and was approved for a new credit card, which will give me a nice new piece of luggage as well as a large insulated bag. I really do not need either one of them, but I can use them in my move. When I got home, I took a nap and when I got up, I worked on preparing supper for Lori and I. Lori arrived almost a full hour late, and the chicken was kind of dried out by then. We had chicken thighs (leftover from Saturday night), four bean salad, potatoes with seasoning from Israel, applesauce and muffins. We watched the movie THE LAST RODEO on Angel.
WEDNESDAY: I went to BARKER SENIORS today. I did the chair exercises with Sandy leading Shortly after that Cindy Sue and Brian
sang and played the guitar and led us in MUSIC BINGO and COOL TUNES BINGO.
This was a lot of fun!!! As we finished this, our lunch was starting to be served. It started with soup and then it was tuna salad with tomato and lettuce and onion with two slices of bread, vegetables and fruit. My stomach was a bit off, so I may have eaten a third of my soup and less than a half of the rest. Someone brought a cake to celebrate the birthday of Barker Seniors which started in 1979.
Actually, maybe the cake was provided by the club itself. After lunch, they held their usual meeting with various updates. I go home a little before two p.m. and took a nap. Lori picked me up about five twenty p.m. and we went to the North Ridge Methodist Church for their dinner. It was very good. I suggested he come in when we got back to my place, and we watched the movie THE MUSIC OF SILENCE, based on the life of Andrea Bocelli a famous Italian opera singer. It was very good.
I met up with Deb, Jan and Lori there. I think I invited all three of them. It was looking like Lori had changed her mind and at 5:15, I removed my purse from the seat I was saving for her and then she showed up. She was the last person to come, and missed out on getting a free bag with various items inside, and most of the food was already gone by then. The conference was very well attended and it was very good. After it was over, Jan and I showed Lori around since it was her first time at the Y.
