Week of Sunday October 19 to Saturday October 25th, 2025

SUNDAY:   after church (which was really good, the Trimbles spoke, and a lot of people went forward at the end), I met up with Cindi, Glenda, Carol, Lori, Linda Stein and Andrea at THE BIG DITCH.  I had the SMASH BURGER with fries and an order of vegetables.  I brought some of the burger and vegetables home.  Linda Stein asked me to let her know about upcoming events, so I texted her a few of them in the evening.

MONDAY  When I tried to get on Facebook this morning, I was unable to.  My account has been either suspended or disabled.  I met up with Jan at the Y and we walked for a half an hour.  Then I had my appointment with Dr. Chubineh, but I saw his PA, I think her name is Lisa.  I really like her but I requested that I see Dr. Chubineh next time (in six months).

After going to Walgreens and picking up a prescription, I decided to drive out to the new location of THE LITTLE BAKERY.  Last night I did a MapQuest and it said it was only ten minutes away, on Route 31.  However, it is like a half an hour away on 31.  It is kind of a dive, the place really needs a facelift both inside and out.

But the two slices of OLD FASHIONED PIZZA were very good.  There was a woman who came in after me,  and while I was looking at the baked goods, she asked the clerk if they had ever heard of a certain APP which offered a great deal, something like a half a party pizza and a bunch of wings for eleven dollars.  She said she wanted FIVE orders of that.  When I left, the clerk was looking at her phone with  a confused look on his face.  I would have liked to stick around and see how that situation progressed, but I didn't think that would be in good taste.

I spent the rest of the day at home.   In the evening, I watched AMERICA'S STAIRCASE.  It was VERY good.  I texted Lori about going for spaghetti at Solid Rock tomorrow evening.  She will come here and Elaine will pick both of us up.  Andrea texted me and reminded me of the Lockport Travel Club meeting tomorrow.  I agreed to go.

TUESDAY:   I went to the Ladies Bible Study at Freedom Church but I did not go out to lunch, since I was planning on having spaghetti at SOLID ROCK in the evening.  I tried to make a nap, but had a hard time falling asleep.  Lori arrived at my house a little bit before five p.m. and Elaine picked us up to go to Solid Rock.  We sat with Becky and Steven.  I had not seen Steven in years.  He looks pretty good.  I think he is somewhat lonely.  When Elaine dropped us off at my house, I asked Lori if she wanted to come in and she said yes, so I found a short documentary on HOOPLA, about a man who escaped from the Nazis (he was a teenager) and joined the resistance and eventually came to the USA.  It was graphic, but pretty good.

WEDNESDAY:  This morning was the first session of the MOVERS AND MAKERS CLUB (what a stupid name), which is basically a research project of the University of Buffalo.  There are seven or eight of us who came.  Unfortunately, the leader of the "movers" part could not get the technology to work.  He offered to let us all go home, but we all stayed and did other activities at the Y until it was time for the "makers" part.  It was an art project using "pastels" which are basically chalk.

After leaving the Y, Andrea drove she and I to Barker Seniors.  It was  very large group today and it was OCTOBERFEST.  We had a catered meal (Donna Eicks) a costume contest and there was some live entertainment.

Lori picked up meals for she and I at Emmanuel Methodist church (but provided by a different church that does not have a building of their own) and we watched GLASS CASTLE.  I had seen it before, but I had forgotten a lot.

THURSDAY:  I took both my Chrome book and my laptop over to JB Computers.  William tried to help me get back into FB.  He suggested that I take both home and NOT try to get into FB for 24 hours and bring them back and he will try something else.  Peggy and I went to Olcott Beach Church for their ham and scalloped potato dinner,  They were raising money for the Haven of Hope Pregnancy Center.  It was a delicious meal.  When I got home, I called Cindi because she had agreed to come over this evening to watch THE TRUTH ABOUT RFK Jr.  She enjoyed it as much as I did.

FRIDAY:  I tried to find someone to go to the Y with me to walk the track.  I couldn't reach Andrea, Jan said she is not feeling THAT well.   Deb Seymour agreed to meet me at eleven but then she realized that she did not feel all that well, after having a flu shot yesterday.  I went anyways and participated in a Silvers Sneakers class, walked the track a bit and used the recumbant bike, and then I returned to JB Computers.  William was unable to work out my issues with Facebook and suggested that I get a new email address and a new account.  However, a couple of hours later, I got into FB and things seem to be back to normal.  I talked to Peg on the phone regarding a possible trip to Cincinnati to see the Auschwitz exhibit.

SATURDAY:  I went to GRIMBLEs and purchased some TWINKLE and then I cleaned and polished two items to send to Cassy and Megan.  For Cassy, a silver plated sugar bowl with its top, with the letter N engraved on it.  For Megan, a silver plated cup that has my name CAROLYN on it.  I don't recall having it or seeing it when I was a kid, but I found it among Dad's stuff.   I put together a package of stuff to send to Megan and Chris, including the three watches that David bought for me on eBay, one for each:  Chris, Tyler and Quinn.  I had planned to accomplish much more today but after the package was ready, I felt so tired.  I rested a bit ank a showered then had a light lunch and at two p.m. I laid down to take a nap.  I did sleep some and when I got up I took a shower and washed my hair and fixed supper.  I sauteed some onions and cabbage and added some ham and baked a sweet potato.

When I checked my mail, I found a check from New York State for two hundred dollars. Pam came over in the evening and we watched the first three episodes of season two of MATLOCK.   I made some popcorn which we had with iced tea/lemonade.
