Week of March 29th, 2026 through April 4th, 2026

SUNDAY:  I was settling down to watch MEET THE PRESS when Megan called.  Her Aunt Doris passed away and she had to tell her father.  Megan is pretty upset, mostly because when she hung up from talking to Bob, he forgot to hang up his phone (well, end the call) and she heard him crying. Doris would have turned 90 this coming August and was in the hospital, and not doing well.  She leaves 5 grown children and several grandchildren.  When I asked how Tyler is doing, Meg said he is doing great and will be doing an internship in the summer in IOWA.  Some kind of statistics.

Church was very good.  After church I went home to pick up a calendar I had filled in with dates and times in September for going to Lancaster County, PA to see JOSHUA at Sight and Sound Theater.  I quickly packed a light lunch to take with me to Vicki's house to meet up with Vicki, Linda and Andrea.  Our plan was to meet up and start making plans for this trip.  It took a couple of hours and was a bit grueling but we made reservations for three night at a motel that Vicki has stayed at in the past, reserved tickets for JOSHUA as well as a play at Bird-in-Hand Theatre the next day.  Andrea will do the driving, and the other three of us will pay for her lodging.

When I got home, I had a sandwich and then took a nap.

MONDAY:  I meant to organize my noted regarding the trip to SIGHT AND SOUND yesterday, but I was so lazy and I didn't.  I did that first thing his morning.  Then I started the corned beef in the crockpot.  The onions and carrots are in already, and I will add the potatoes soon, and the cabbage much closer to the end.  I have been unable to get hold of Leslie both last night and this morning.  In the past we have always connected by phone so that I would know when she was planning on leaving Auburn, when she left and when I could expect her.  Not this time, all calls went to voicemail.  I was getting concerned and called two numbers at STRYKER HOMES and left messages.  A man named Christopher called me back to tell me tht Leslie had been seen leaving with a suitcase, so then I knew she was on her way.  She called me from near Batavia a few minutes later.  She arrived around one p.m. and I fixed her a lunch.  We spent the rest of the day here, playing games, visiting, having supper together and making plans for tomorrow, as well as watching a movie on ANGEL and also watching videos about Medina, since we plan to go there tomorrow and do a scavenger hunt.

TUESDAY:  Leslie and I went to the Good Will here in Lockport, because she wanted to go. We lucked out with Tuesday being the day that seniors get a twenty five percent discount.  Leslie found a beautiful button down the front shirt, long sleeves, that still had tags on it.  I found a small frying pan, maybe a  bit smaller than the one I three away a couple of months ago after the handle rotted off, and a L.L. Bean flannel shirt (Buffalo Plaid) shirt for seven dollars.  Then we returned home to have a quick lunch before setting off for Medina to do a scavenger hunt.  It rained off and on, but we managed to find a few places and do a few challenges.  When we got home, I prepared spaghetti for supper, and then we watched a really good movie THE MUSIC OF SILENCE about Andrea Bocelli.

WEDNESDAY:  After Movers and Makers, Peg and I went over to the church for a prayer session.  It was shorter due to Becky leaving a voicemail for Peggy and Peggy reading it aloud to me.  I was concerned so I called Becky who was a emotional mess after seeing her primary, showing him a growth on her face and being sent to Lockport to see Dr. Schraft.  I offered to meet her at the doctors office.  I went home briefly and had lunch and made a potato salad and cleaned the kitchen.  I got to Dr. Schraft's office just as Becky was getting out of her truck.  Dr. S said it looks like skin cancer and he is going to make some phone calls and get Becky into Medina hospital to have it excised.  When I got home after that, I was really beat so I laid down.  Leslie arrived while I was napping.  We went to KFC for supper and spent the evening at home.  She wanted to watch LUNATIC FARMER on ANGEL, and it was very good

THURSDAY:  Leslie slept in a bit, so we got a late start to geocaching.  We could not find the first one which was in a stone wall on the LaFarge Quarry property.  Then we did find one in an industrial area  west of the city.  Our last try was at the Old Poorhouse Cemetery across from the sheriff's office and jail.  It would have been a very short walk into the necessary area except we encountered this, and there was no way around it due to piles of brush.

After that, we went home for lunch.  I packed up a lunch bag with food items for her to take back to Auburn.  After she left, I took a nap.  Lori came here and I drove us to the PALACE for a lecture/slide show about the past history of Old Fort Niagara in Youngstown, NY.  After that, Lori suggested that we might try a restaurant/bar not far from where I live, called ATTITUDEs.

It is really mostly a bar, but they offer cheeseburgers for $5.00.  I added fries to mine.  Our entire bill was less than thirteen dollars.  I think we will go there again.

Lori and I had made tentative plans to "hang out" at my house to play games or watch a movie, but I told her I was kind of worn out and just wanted to get into my pajamas and crash in front of the TV.  I started a load of laundry when I got home.

FRIDAY:  I spent the day at home.  I made corned beef and cabbage soup and it turned out so good.  I am going to take some over to Mary Sylvis tomorrow.  I met up with Dee Mann at Freedom a little before four thirty p.m. and we went to the Pendleton United Methodist Church for their Lenten Friday fish fry.  Lori met us there.  It was a very good meal.  Then we stayed for the Good Friday service, which was also very good.

SATURDAY:   In the morning, I decided it was time for me to consolidate my important papers into a smaller unit.  This entailed lots of throwing out of old stuff and duplicates and organizing the remaining stuff in folders, and getting things in order in a rather large file box.  I made a LOT of progress, but still have some work to do.  Peggy and I had arranged that she would call me when she and David finish door dashing.  I wrapped up my organization, got dressed and had lunch.  When Peg called, I left to drop off some soup and muffins to Mary Sylvis, an acquaintance from church who is singlehandedly caregiving her husband who is bedridden.  I stayed a few minutes to talk, and then went to Niagara Produce to get a few items and then went to Peggy's house where she and I discussed various possibilities for me moving into their house with them.  Then we went to a place that sells Amish sheds and looked at a shed that is really a sun room that she and David love, and want to purchase.  Then we went to PANERA's where I hoped to get a pomegranet/hibiscus teas, but they were out of it, so I got a Dr. Pepper.  I spent the rest of the day at home.  I called Becky to see how she is doing.  I guess she is doing as well as expected, under the circumstances.  Dr. Schraft did not call her back yesterday.  She will try to contact him on Monday.
