WEEK of Sunday, March 22nd through Saturday, March 28th, 2026 (recipe for cottage cheese cake)
SUNDAY: Church was excellent today. I put a note in the collection box saying "it is really hard to hear the announcements with the music and drums". This was interesting, when Pastor Craig asked Drew to come up on the stage and read from the Bible, but there were a lot of distractions while he was doing it.
After church, six of us went to LaPorts for lunch. I had the grilled marinated chicken and brought a lot of it home with me. I spent the rest of the day at home. I tried a recipe I saw on facebook for a quick and easy and nutritious "cake".
One mashed banana
Half cup of cottage cheese
One egg
Combine well and put in small baking dish 350 degrees for 18 minutes. Next time I will add some honey to it and bake a little bit longer.
I confirmed with Chickie that we will meet up for lunch at noon at PANERA.
MONDAY: I called Jan and we agreed to meet at the Y at 11:10 a.m. I left early and first went to PANERA for a drink and then to WalMart for a few items. I was a couple of minutes late in arriving at the Y. Jan and I walked the track for about 35 minutes. Then I met up with Chick at PANERA's. We both had the same two items off of the value menu. After we were done with lunch, we went to the Y. It was Chickie's first time there, and one of the workers showed her around. She is thinking about activating her membership and going swimming and a few other activities. I hope she does.
TUESDAY: LIFE GROUP was really good this morning. During it, Cindi told us that Ghislaine told her that she hopes to send money to the Congo (for the orphanage she supports) for Easter items for the staff and children. The total amount she hopes for is around five hundred dollars. Cindi suggested that we (people at the Life Group) could give her money in the next couple of days, if we want to). I thought this was too vague, so I took out twenty dollars cash and set it on the table in front of me. The three people at my table (Glenda, Carol and Pam) followed suit and put cash out, and then the ladies at the other tables did the same. And it added up to over two hundred dollars. Since we all had given money that we had not planned on giving, we decided to go for an inexpensive lunch today. I suggested Wendy's and we went there. I had the four dollar meal, a cheeseburger and fries along with a free senior drink, and so did a couple of others. After leaving Wendy's I went to PANERA and got a drink. I laid down later in the afternoon for a nap, but I was not able to sleep, due to drinking Dr. Pepper at Wendy's.
WEDNESDAY: Movers and Makers was good, and then Andrea drove Lori and I to Barker for Barker Seniors, which was also very good. I took a few pictures.
When we got back to the Y, I took Lori home so that I would know how to get to her place if I need to in the future. It is pretty easy and I don't think I will have any difficulties in the future. I spent the rest of the day at home. I called Hoover Road to check on Carrie and was told that she is doing very well. I called her father and told him about the injury.
THURSDAY: I got a few things done around the house in the morning, and then went to WalMart and PANERA (they are all out of my favorite drink) and then to the Y. There was a LUNCN AND LEARN workshop with the topic being drug interactions. However, the presenter did not talk much about drug interactions. It was interesting, anyways. Lunch was rolls and cold cuts, no drinks provided. I went back to PANERA, but they were still out of my drink, so I got green iced tea, which is pretty good. I spent the rest of the day at home. In the evening, Christa initiated a friendly conversation that did not involve challenging me on my beliefs. I was a bit surprised, but I enjoyed it. Mostly, she showed me pictures and talked about the two new beagles she and Nikolai have adopted.
FRIDAY the 27th: I spent a good portion of the morning cleaning the front porch. I moved the shelving unit and cleaned behind it, shook out a couple of the rugs (the other one is too big to shake out) and vacuumed and dusted, etc. It really does not look a whole lot better, but IT IS cleaner. I made a batch of CHEX MIX. Peggy came over for a little bit to get something out of he upstairs apartment.
In the evening, I had another good (very good) experience with Christa in Facebook private messenger. She told me she has a friend from Iran, a young girl about 22, who calls herself Jasmine. She and Christa have had some conversations that seem to have enlightened Christa. She said it helped her get a perspective. Jasmine told Christa that from the time she was a little girl, she was taught to chant DEATH TO AMERICA. Christa acted like I was a fool when I mentioned middle eastern people chanting like that during a VERY recent conversation. Also, Jasmine is going to Washington, D.C. on Sunday to attend a rally thanking Donald Trump for killing Khomenie. AND, Christa did not get mad or saying anything nasty about Christianity when I said I would pray for Jasmine's safety. Christa seems to really like and care for Jasmine and I encouraged her to nurture this friendship. It is possible that Christa is now able to see and understand that I am not a hopelessly stupid person.
SATURDAY: Peggy and I agreed that we would meet at her house at ten a.m. but when I got there, she was not even fully dressed! We went to Hoover Road to visit Carrie. Our visit went well. On the way back to Lockport, we passed a NO KINGS rally on the corner of Robinson Road and Transit.
I got gas and a few items from Niagara Produce before I went home, where I spent the rest of the day. I vacuumed the floor in the dining area. I had a nap and prepared a cube steak, fried potatoes, and added pickled beets and a roll to my supper.
