Week of Sunday May 24th through Saturday May 30th 2026
SUNDAY: I went to church today, after missing a few weeks. It was not as crowded today as it has been previously. After church, several of us went to STEAK, STONE and SUSHI for lunch. It was my idea. It was me, Glenda, Carol, Lori, Marlene, Louise and and Linda. Four of us had the PINEAPPLE FRIED RICE. It was a huge amount of rice with fruit and vegetables in it, in half of a pineapple. It was delicious. After that, I went to PANERA and got a drink. I took a nap shortly after arriving home. When I woke up, I had a text from Lori saying that she could come over to watch a movie. I had suggested that to her earlier in the day. We watched A LEAGUE OF THEIR OWN. It is one of my favorite movies and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
MONDAY: I finally reached Leslie. She had accidentally texted my home phone number again. We changed the dates of our birthday trip. She really wanted me to be in Auburn for the fourth of July holidays to for the festivities at Emerson Park. So, we will go at the end of June and arrive back in Auburn in time for them. Peggy came over and brought the boxes that I had stored at her house for Megan, Cassy and Tyler. Megan can take them when she comes in a couple of weeks. Megan agreed to supper here at my house with Peggy and David. She has alienated herself from her other relatives here in Lockport, due to her hatred of Trump. Joan came over at three p.m. and did an hour of work on one of my flower beds. Then we went to the Monday Night Cruise at Ida Fritz Park. We walked around a bit.
None of the food offerings appealed to us so we decided to go to LaPorts. BUT, it was closed. Almost every place was closed, after all, it is a holiday (Veteran's Day). We tried JoJo's for ice cream, but it, too, was closed. I noticed that Hawley's Grove was open but did not want to go there.
TUESDAY: I went to LIFE GROUP and then to Dr. Bax, Dermatologist, and then picked up a sub at SUBWAY and a drink at PANERA. I spent the rest of the day at home.
WEDNESDAY the 27th: Andrea decided to skip BARKER SENIORS today, so I drove Lori and I. We arrived on time and sat with Frank and Karen and some others. Lori, Karen and I all did the exercises with Sandy. The entertainment today was a magician, and he was very good.
Lunch was a breakfast (egg, potatoes, etc.), macaroni salad, and vegetables. It was very good. In the afternoon, at home, I worked on my recertification for Medicaid paying my Medicare premium. I called UNIVERA and requested a bill or statement showing that I have a monthly premium of $11.20. I had a short nap before Lori picked me up to go to the North Ridge United Methodist Church for their community dinner. It was hot dogs and salads, and it was good. We ate with Deb and Gary.
THURSDAY: I went to the Dale for the EVERYTHING ABOUT UNIVERA presentation by Michelle Farina. There were a LOT of people there, I think about a hundred. It was very good. There were a lot of freebies offered and a drawing for prizes and I won a very nice insulated bag.
Then I went to PANERA and got a drink and then to the Y to meet up with Pam, who was about fifteen minutes late. We went to WENDY'S for lunch.
FRIDAY: I had a terrible nightmare just before waking up at around eight a.m. I had been awake for a long time in the middle of the night. It took me a while to recover. I made a couple of important phone calls, including making another appointment with a sleep specialist. I left early for the painting class and stopped at GRIMBLES to get some ant caps. When I got to the HOPE AND WELLNESS RECOVERY CAFE, most of the other participants were already there (they were a bunch of young women from the MADONNA HOUSE, a halfway house for addicts and alcoholics. It was rather crowded, but it worked out OK. Some of the Madonna House ladies are very creative:
It was such a nice day that Jan, Lori and I decided to go down to WideWaters and take a walk. It was a slow, short walk because Lori is disabled, but it was nice. We went over to the Wide Waters Grill, and each had something.
I had a frozen lemonade. We found a picnic table and had our treats. Lori wanted to go to the UNITY FEST so I agreed to meet her there. However, when I got to the area of Lockport High School, the crowd was HUGE, so many cars and so many people. So, I changed my mind. I texted Lori and left her a couple of phone messages, but her phone was dead, so she did not get them. I went to PIZZA OVEN and got three slices of pizza and brought them home. Lori called a little while later. She had the same experience as I did, seeing the crowd and changing her mind.
They do folk music and tell stories between, explaining what the next piece is about. I donated a few dollars (to help with renovations for either the church or Forsyth Tavern. I also signed up for alerts when they perform again. I took several pictures on my phone and have to figure out how to move them to Flickr and here. After the concert, Pam and I drove around trying to figure out a place to go where she could get ice cream and I could get a sandwich. We finally settled on Widewaters. I had a beef on wick and Pam had a sundae.
