Week of June 14th through 20th, 2026

SUNDAY the 14th  (Flag Day)   In the morning, Megan and I went over to have a short visit with Carrie.  It went well.  Then we returned to my place.  Megan had been trying to make plans with her cousin Ben (my nephew, my sisters oldest son) to get together.  They didn't arrive until shortly before one p.m. The four of us sat and visited for a while and then someone suggested going out for lunch.  I told them that I wanted "you young people" to have some time together and I stayed home.  They didn't argue with me about that.  They went to THE BIG DITCH.

Megan went upstairs to look around since Megan had told her to see if there was anything she might want.  She found one item (an antique ice bucket).  She accidentally locked the keys in the apartment before she came down.

I finished packing three box for Megan, Cassy and Tyler (I had been working on them for a while), and added them to the pile of boxes that Meg will take home with her tomorrow.

In the evening, we watched the movie THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA on Megan's HULU.   I went to bed with a very stuffed head, I don't know why.  It makes me wonder if I am allergic to spring seasonal pollen, etc.

MONDAY:  While Meg started loading her car, I prepared breakfast: french  toast (made with french bread) and sausage.  We had breakfast together and then she finished loading her car up.  She left at about 8:35 a.m.  I took a couple of pictures after she loaded her car up.

After I did a load of laundry and picked the house up, I went to WalGreens and picked up a prescription and then to the library to pick up a book.  I had lunch at home, and then took a nap. When I got up from my nap, I found a FB private message from Megan saying she made it home.  She did not have any problems at either border.   I really felt lousy after the nap.  I watched the next episode of THE TESTAMENTS on Megan's HULU.  I got hungry for strawberry shortcake, so I made some biscuits and prepared the strawberries.

I had called Elizabeth earlier today, after I noticed her car was not in her driveway, and I told her how Louise told me and others how much she appreciated the anniversary cake we took over to her and Frank.  I was very surprised when Elizabeth called back.  We talked for several minutes.

TUESDAY:   Life Group was very good this morning.  We are deep into the book of JOSHUA, and it is very interesting.  Especially since I will be seeing the play JOSHUA at Sight and Sound Theatre in Lancaster, Pennsylvania in September.  After group, eight of us went to The Fieldstone for lunch.  I had the soup and salad bar.  When I got home, I took a nap, and got up in time to meet up with Peggy at her house, in order to go to MY TOMATO PIE for a presentation about Medicare, including a free meal.  The presentation was very good, and the meal was, also.  When I got home, I watched a couple more episodes of THE TESTAMENTS.

WEDNESDAY:   Karen Eldridge came to my house to ride with me to STOOGES, since Peggy had asked people to perhaps carpool and park a it of a distance from the restaurant so that those people who use walkers or who are older and walk slow could park close by.  Karen is really  one or those people since she walks with a cane, so I planned to drop her off right in front of the restaurant and then find a parking spot, but she pointed out a nice spot very close that we could park in.  The event went well.  We had our own private room and were served our lunches which we had pre-ordered.  Peggy had a mini basket raffle, but I didn't even look at it.

I love this old tin ceiling.  I think this is the first one I have seen that has not been restored.

I got home a little after one thirty p.m.  I took a nap.  When I got up I had a bad case of diarrhea.

THURSDAY:   I left early for my appointment with Dr. Basra, and stopped at Panera and got a drink.  Apparently, they have replaced Pomegranete/Hibiscus tea with Blackberry/Hibiscus tea!  And it is good. I also dropped bottles and cans off at the place on Locust Street.  My appointment went well.  I had a Covid test which came up negative.  I went to Dollar Tree for various items and then to WalGreens to pick up a medication Dr. Basra called in, toilet paper and paper towels.  I also got gas.  I had lunch at home and I feel a LOT better than I did earlier today.  However, after my nap, I felt worse. I had chicken and rice soup for supper.  I started taking MUCINEX at a couple of minutes before nine p.m. I looked up geocaching information for Saranac Lake and recorded it.

FRIDAY:  I spent the entire day at home.  I was supposed to go out to lunch with Paula, but I could barely talk when I got up and felt pretty lousy in spite of starting the MUCINEX last night at nine p.m.  I felt better as the day progressed.  I worked on old photograph albums, throwing a way some pictures, saving some and I had a short pile to send to Megan.  I found a recipe for blueberry muffins and made them in the early evening.  I found geocaching info. for Tupper Lake.

I made some blueberry muffins in anticipation of having a picnic with Pam, Lori, Marcia and maybe Louise tomorrow. I am pretty sure that Pam initiated the idea.  However, Lori called around nine p.m. to tell me that Pam cancelled.

SATURDAY the 20th:   I spent the entire day at home.  I felt much better this morning when I got up than I did yesterday morning.  I spent some time sorting through old photo albums and getting rid of pictures that are either already scanned into Flickr or that I don't feel are unique enough to bother adding them to Flickr.  I also worked on putting together a box of items to take to Auburn to give to Leslie so that she can use them as prizes for BINGO.  I had a nap.  Andrea called and wondered if I would want to go for a ride, and we talked for a while.  Then Lori called to tell me something kind of disturbing.  Apparently, Pam only cancelled with Lori and I and then moved ahead on making other plans to go to JoJo's and then to her place to play SCRABBLE.  Oh well.  I told Lori we should just "let it go" and not say anything to Pam about it.  I finally went out to get my mail and got some good news.  I am now eligible for the QMB Medicare Buy-In, a plan available through the Medicare Savings Program.  It sounds like I will not have any co-pays or deductibles when I go to the doctor or have a test done, and DSS may even pay my Medicare Advantage premium (although it is already paid up for 2026, due to Univera's error).  I recall that I must have had the QMB years ago for a short while when I didn't have co-pays, but then that benefit stopped, but I never knew why or questioned it.  The paper I got even says that chiropractic care is covered!  I will have to look into that.

On TUBI, I found the documentary THE LAST OF THE WINTHROPS and it is very good.  Viviane Winthrop was raised as a Winthrop (one of the USA's founding families).  The father who raised her loved her very much and she loved him, and decided to go to England to learn more about him and her own lineage.  In the middle of that, she found out that a sister was looking for her.  Her mother had an affair with a man and got pregnant with Viviane.  Viviane was raised as an only child (apparently the father who raised her was sterile), and always wanted a sister.  Turns out she had several siblings!
