I picked Betty up this morning and we headed out to the Golden Hill State Park so we could hike the Red Interpretive Trail.  We were given a DAY PASS without paying because of being senior citizens. It was cool and breezy, and a perfect day for a hike. We encountered some wet, muddy areas along the trail.   It is a little less than two miles, but with the short side walks we took to the beach and into the grove an over the bridge, I am pretty sure we hiked at least two miles, perhaps more.                      The trail goes to the beach and we spent several minutes here.    We think this Red Oak Tree is the largest one in the Oak Grove.     This tree i very picturesque. We saw a lot of wild flowers.   When we finished the trail, we were hungry so we drove to one of the small pavilions  There were a lot of people camping at the park, mostly in pull along trailers.  ...

I went to the Y this morning, arriving a few minutes early to walk the track, and then the thirty minute STABILITY class in the gym, which was poorly attended.  After that I went upstairs and walked the track once or twice and then got on one of the recumbent bikes for five minutes, then I returned to the gym for SILVER SNEAKERS CLASSIC, I left after forty minutes (out of 45) and then I showered ,  On my way out, I thought I saw Maria Palma in the child care room, and she looked up and noticed me and came out and we talked for a few minutes.  She told me that she is teaching Spanish to the four and five year olds.  Also, she is teaching kids a bit older in a school location.  She said she is SO happy now, after not being able to work for about a year.   Then I went to the  library, where I completed my SNAP application.  Went home and had a snack and napped a bit. Today after church I helped Peggy cut up vegetables for tonight's GO TEAM PARTY.  The party is for Go Team members only...………….those people who have completed the four weeks of MOTION.  I took the four weeks of classes when they were first offered...……….it may have been a year ago or so. The party started at six p.m.   I think there were about sixty people present.    This small sign was on the table amid lots of tiny stars. We had several flavors of chicken wings (from Stevie V's) and a salad bar.  I don't think the salad bar got much action but the wings were a big hit AND they were sloppy.    For desert there were several kinds of brownies. There was worship  and Craig gave a message He talked about plans for the newly purchased satellite church in the north end. Each participant was given a gift (a coffee mug) at the end of the event.

Yesterday, I went to the Y and spent time in three pool exercise classes.  The last part of one, then the fifteen minute  of Aqua Stretch class and then about 2/3 of Silver Sneaker Splash.  I was getting tired and needed to use the bathroom, so I quit early.   Gail, Peggy and I met at STEAK, STONE AND SUSHI for lunch in order to celebrate Gail and Peg's August birthdays.  I had the filet mignon.  We had a nice time together.   In the evening, I invited Pam over to play BANANAGRAMS.  We had popcorn and cider and enjoyed our time together. Jim and Karen are a couple who started coming to Faith Tab a few years ago.  Jim is the brother of my Aunt Linda's former husband.   They have been married fifteen years.  Each of them had been looking for a partner on the internet.  In their own words they "looked all over the world" but found each other in the same city.  Here they are before the ceremony, which Pastor Craig did. ...

I heard about this spot and wanted to experience it, so I asked Betty to accompany me.  I drove and I provided a picnic lunch.   There is no sign at the entrances to the paved trail, but we found it easily enough, right behind the Senior Center. We hadn't been on it too long when we got to the area of a geocache (I DID IT!).  I was not in favor of walking down into the area (short but steep incline) but Betty was brave and went right in and found it easily enough. We signed the log and decided hiking poles might be good, so I went back to my car to get them.  While at my car, I made us two sandwiches and took them.  We found a bench along the edge of the lake and sat and ate them. We were blessed to see a mama deer and her doe nibbling on leaves and watched them for several minutes. Peggy and I planned to spend some time together today, so we met up at my place at ten thirty.  We sorted through some items in the garage and then we went to Lockport Hospital to see our friend, Myrna, who fell in the middle of the night and may have broken her shoulder.  We visited her for a while and then we dropped some old bottles off at Mike's house. By this time it was early afternoon and we were hungry.  I went through a coupon book that Peggy has and we found several restaurants that had good offers.  However, none of them were open.  I had the name and address of Lunetta's and suggested we go there.  We did and had a nice lunch. The inside is a bit nicer than the outside. After lunch we went geocaching.  We found six out of eight that we looked for.    I noticed this building after we found a cache just outside of a cemetery. It was a nice afternoon.

Friday the 30th I drove home.  I took the thruway all the way.  I stopped at one of he thruway rest areas and had lunch at a Roy Rogers.  I was exhausted when I got home, but I started putting stuff away. Saturday:  I am still pretty worn out from my trip.  I helped Peggy out in the garage today.  We found a lot of bottles, a few very old picture frames, and BEST OF ALL:  a large ceramic Christmas tree, and it still works.  Peg said I can have it. Betty picked me up at 3:45 and then we went to get Myrna and we met up with Peggy, David, Pam and Amber at THE AMHERST BUFFET, so we could all have dinner to celebrate Peg' 58th birthday.  While Peg was getting food, I talked to David about he and I starting to plan a birthday celebration in two years, when Peggy turns SIXTY! We all ate too much and had a great time.
