We decided to go to PAULA'S DONUTs in Clarence for breakfast.   I had a breakfast sandwich and Mega and Cassy purchased a half dozen donuts.  On the way back to Lockport, we stopped at the larger Aldi, the one that is not my regular one in Lockport.    We purchased several items.  Then we parked on the Pine Street Bridge in Lockport and walked down to see the statues, and then we went to Lake Effect Ice Cream. When we got home, the three of us started setting up for the small birthday party for Cassandra, in my back yard.  David and Peg arrived and David did hot dogs on the grill (Hebrew National skinless).   We had the hot dogs, watermelon, chips, drinks and leftover cake and pastries from last night.  Gail and Bob also came.  Becky did not show up.   Here is a picture of the beautiful birthday girl. After everyone left, I cleaned up a bit.  Megan and Cassy helped.  I took a nap.  We got up in time to...

August 21, 2021 Peggy's Party

Image
I went to the Saturday Market and picked up a watermelon for tomorrow.  Then I went to the party store and picked up a couple of "21" items in order to celebrate Cassy's birthday tomorrow.   Then I went home for a bit before it was time to go to the CUTTING CREW for a haircut.  Then I picked up the cakes at Molinaro's and met up with Peg at the church and we worked a bit on setting up, but left some stuff to still do before the party since she and I and Maggie and Bev and Betty would be there at least  full hour and a half  before the start of the party.  Just as I was getting into my car to go to the church, Megan and Cassandra arrived, so I stayed a couple of minutes to greet them and then went to church.  Betty and Bev and Maggie arrived a minute or so before I arrived.  We finished setting up.  Megan and Cassandra arrived about four thirty, and shortly after that everyone else trickled in.  There were 36 people altogether....

August 20th, 2021

Today being the last full day before Peggy's sixtieth birthday party,  I spent the whole morning at the church getting ready.  I had help:  Maggie, Bev and Betty.     Maggie put the charcuterie boards together while Bev cut up vegetables.  Betty overslept and was very late in joining us.  I took charge of putting the fruit salad together.  She put tablecloths on the tables and set up a MEMORY TABLE which has photographs and mementos from Peg's life such as a couple of report cards, photographs and various other items.   We worked for close to three full hours and then left a few jobs for tomorrow.   I went home and got ready for lunch with Paula to commemorate Mary Anne's birthday.  She would have turned 72 today.   She picked me up at one p.m. and we went to Gordy Harpers.  I had the half roasted chicken with a baked potato and coleslaw.  I brought part of the chicken home.  It seemed l...

August 19th, 2021 To the BUFFALO ZOO with the Campbell Girls

Image
A few weeks ago, Peggy asked me if I would accompany her and the three Campbell girls to the Buffalo Zoo.  I agreed and today was the day.  I purchased lunch items for the girls (lunchables) and made PB and J sandwiches for Peggy and I.  Also, I put together three gift bags, one for each girl.  Each bag had three or four snack items, some barrettes, headbands, a small package of tissues, a package of wipes, a colorful bandana and possibly one or two more items.   Peg picked me up at nine a.m. and we went over and picked the girl up.   Two of them need car seats, so we got those installed in Peg's back seat and headed to Buffalo.   We had a good time at the zoo even if it was pretty hot. Addie took this picture.                  Lily took this picture                           Lilly took this . I suggested that Finley carry ...

Yesterday I went to the LADIES LIFE GROUP at Freedom Church.  I passed out new fliers with info about the September day trip to Niagara Falls.  I kept a record of who rec'd them and gave that list and more fliers to Betty so she can make sure that others (who were not there yesterday) get fliers.  After Life Group, a bunch of us went to THE FIELDSTONE for lunch.  I had the parmesan crumb baked fish, along with the soup and salad bar.  I ate a LOT.     TODAY, I went to WalMart and FeelRite to make some necessary purchases and also picked up three gift bags from Peg.  The gift bags are to give to the three Campbell girls tomorrow, since Peg and I will be taking them to the Buffalo Zoo.  I put the bags together when I got home.   Then I decided to drop off some food for Myrna, it it was a good time for her.  I called her and she said it was.  I put together a bag of food items:  cabbage roll soup, lemon cake, sourdo...

After vacuuming and organizing and straightening up some, I went to DOLLAR TREE and purchased items to put together three gift bags for Pastor Craig's daughters.  Peggy and I will be taking them to the Buffalo Zoo on Thursday and Peg wants to give each girl a gift bag including snacks and a couple of gift items.  I had fun shopping for them.  I also went to the CUTTING CREW and made an appointment to get my hair cut this coming Saturday at 11:30 a.m.  I also went to Aldi's and picked up another tray of small bottles of water, along with a few other items.   Becky called and wanted to tell me about some of her recent medical experiences.  Then as I was getting ready to leave to pick Elaine up to go to the Palace, Connie called, and we talked for fifteen minutes until I had to leave.   Elaine and I met up with Pam and Betty at the PALACE for a presentation on the HISTORY OF LOCKPORT CHURCHES.   It was very good.  We picked ...

After church I went home and packed myself  picnic lunch and then I met up with Peggy and others from church for the CONNECT BYOP Lunch.   I think about 20 people came, and it was very nice.  We were all relieved that it was not hot and humid like it has been for the past several days.  It was nice and cool, and in fact I almost went to my car to get my light jacket. I relaxed for the rest of the day.  Megan messaged me and asked if it is OK to change the plans we have already made for their arrival, a small party for Cassy, and their departure.  I tried to get hold of Peggy to make sure she and David will be free on Sunday for a small party for Cass.  I would really rather have the small gathering on Sunday instead of Friday, even though my plans were to leave for Auburn on Sunday.
