QUAKER ROAD UNITED METHODIST CHURCH

Image
Peggy and I left church early today, before the sermon, in order to hear David speak at the Quaker Road United Methodist Church in Gasport. He had been asked to speak about his military service and his relationship with God.  He did a great job! They honored Veterans today, and after the service their was cake, coffee and punch.  Good thing because that was my lunch. I met Rita and Kevin Layer at Faith Tab and we went to Roswell to pick up Mary Ann...…..we met with a social worker and talked to her about NOT returning to her house, but going to a hotel while a plan is made to clean up her house.  She agreed.  We went to her house so she could get some clothing, but she could not find much.  I think she was too upset and disoriented to really look. Then we went to the BEST WESTERN PLUS where she got a room for a week.  I went home for a bit and then returned and she and I went out for supper at Denny's and then I returned her to her hotel.

44th Lockport Arts and Crafts Festival 6/29/19

Today was my first opportunity to attend this event, since in the past five years it has rained or something has come up to prevent me from going. This year Betty and I went to it right after it opened up in  the morning, after a  visit to the GRACE THRIFT SHOP which was offering a buy one, get one free sale today. I found two tops and a table runner. Here are a few pictures from the festival.  The vendors were lined up and down both sides of Main Street, I think from Pine Street to Washburn.                                           Boneless Jerk Chicken                 I purchased a meat stick from this family who was raising money for a cub scout pack.                             Donna Eick's mini donuts were very good.  Betty and I split a...

Past Few Days! Mary Anne, Uncle Bob's Funeral and More

Image
YIKES...………..it has been a hectic few days.  I was getting ready to go to the Dale for the second session of the AGING MASTERY CLASS  on Wednesday morning when Mary Anne called me.  She said that the police were at her house, alerted by Roswell after her bloodwork showed a blood infection.  They wanted her to go to the hospital and she needed a ride.   I went to her house where two female LPD officers were waiting, as well as Kevin Layer, her handyman, who was taking her dog.  I took her to the hospital here in Lockport (the police car followed me).  After a while,  I decided to go home to have some lunch.   Mary Anne asked me if I would go over to her house and make sure that the police women had closed the outside slanted door to her basement.   After I had lunch, I went over to her house and checked that door, and it was closed.  I decided it might be a good idea to check the other two doors to make sure they were ...

I got up early and prepared breakfast, which was basically the leftover breakfast item from yesterday.  Then I took a shower.  The plans to leave early to go to Niagara Falls did not work out for various reasons.  Nik and Chris moved the chest from Peggy's apartment to Cassy's car before she headed back to Michigan.   Peggy had offered it to them.  It has a "K" on it, which I think means it belonged to Edna Kurtz, who I think was a friend of my grandparents and Aunt Jeanette. Unfortunately, I developed a tiny stomach ache and diarrhea so I decided to NOT go to Niagara Falls with the group.  So, I stayed home and rested up.  They had a good time except it was terribly hot and humid there.  They had a late lunch at SMOKIN' JOES. I took Christa and Nik to the airport for their early evening flight. Betty came over for ice cream in the evening.

My SEVENTIETH BIRTHDAY Party

Image
Peggy held a party to celebrate me turning seventy.  I am so grateful that Megan and Chris and kids came from Michigan and  Christa and Nikolai came from Colorado so that they were able to be at my party.  Mike and Janie and the boys, Gail and Bob and Marty, and my cousin Becky were the other relatives present.  Many of my friends came, I think everyone I invited except for MaryAnne who hurt her arm the other day and is not feeling well. A worker from Hereitage brought Carrie for a while so that she could have something to eat (potato chips, crackers and cheese) and be included in family pictures and meet my friends and see her sisters. I got many really nice presents.   I think this is my favorite pic of the day After the party, we played games at my house, and had snacks before going to bed.

I cooked and baked all morning.  Mac and cheese, sloppy joes, carrots, peanut butter cookies, muffins and breakfast casserole.  I got gas and met up with Peggy at 2:45 and we went to Buffalo to pick up Christa and Nikolai at the airport. Peg and David, Nik and Christa and I had supper at my house.  Peg and David left after supper, she was pretty worn out.  We were expecting Cassy but she took longer than expected.  When she arrived, the four of us played BANANAGRAMS until Chris, Meg and Tyler arrived.  Christa needed an extra pillow to take to their hotel.  Tyler is a bit taller than her.

OLD FASHIONED GOSPEL REVIVAL: June 22, 2019

Image
Cornerstone Bible Baptist Church in Ransomville had a five night OLD FASHIONED GOSPEL REVIVAL at Five Senses Park in Sanborn.   I missed the first four nights due to not feeling well one night, and other activities.  We (Betty, Vicky, Ron and I) arrived early so I walked back to the front edge of the trail and took a few pictures. Here are some pictures taken under the tent (which was really a nice pavilion). After the meeting, they had a very good pulled pork dinner.  It was a nice evening.

CUP AND SAUCER 6/20/19

Peggy set up an outing for her Life Group and the CONNECT group.  The plan was for everyone who wanted to go to meet at the church at five p.m.  She drove the van with nine of us, with plans to meet a few others there. However, when we arrived, there were a lot more than a few!  We ended up spread out all over the restaurant at three or four different tables. As usual, the spaghetti was very good.  Where else can you get spaghetti with a meatball and garlic toast for a little over three dollars!?
