Golden Hill/Lake Ontario/Lighthouse with Jan Friday, June 11, 2021

Jan and I got together to do some exploring.  I drove and first we went to Miller's Bulk Food Store where we purchased some groceries and I got a sandwich.  Then we went to Golden Beach State Park, where we got in free because of being seniors.  We took a tour of the lighthouse, which was very nice.  Then we had a picnic lunch and then we walked on the interpretive trail to the beach.  The beach was very beautiful today and what was interesting was that others who were there before us had built two structures.   We collected some rocks for painting.  When we were done on the beach we decided not to continue and walk the trail, but to walk back to the car.  And then we headed home. However, on the way I turned on my navigation system to see if we could find a building that I had read about in the ABANDONED LOCKPORT book I purchased at the History Center.  The system was not working well, but we did find it. Years ago, it was an orp...

While I was getting ready for the day, the dog control officer called regarding Mary Anne's dog (Maggie).  She is switching the information from Mary Anne to Kevin, now that she has the facts.  Apparently, Kevin did take care of getting a dog license for Maggie back in 2019, shortly after he took her, but has failed to keep things up.   Then Paula called to tell me that the new owners of Mary Anne's house are putting in an asphalt drive way between their house and where Candy lives.  I had an appointment with Dr. Chubineh at his Williamsville office today.  So, I decided to leave early and go to FEEL RITE and pick up some of the enzymes I use, and at Old Navy.  I went to both of those places and then headed to the docs office, which I had never been to before.  I had a bit of a difficult time finding it because my GPS would not accept the address as valid.  It is in a spot with several buildings and several medical practices.   The ...

I went to the library and made copies of the paperwork for the upcoming ROAD RALLY/SCAVENGER HUNT.  Then I delivered them to both Betty and Elaine.  Betty offered to drive and she is really excited about it.  Elaine and I have some reservations about how difficult it might be. While at the library, I read the last couple days local newspaper and found that Pastor Wayne Dent (former pastor of my church) had written a letter to the editor regarding how he feels about the Gay Pride flag being flown at City Hall for the month of June.  Here it is: Pastor Dent's letter to editor re: Gay Pride flag  June 4, 2021 The following letter contains what I basically shared at the June 2 Common Council meeting, during a recess, regarding the displaying of the Gay Pride flag at city hall for the month of June. Some other thoughts have also been added. I would like to express my feelings and my concern to our Mayor and the city council regarding the decision to fly the Gay...

MONDAY, JUNE SEVENTH:   I had my annual gyno exam this morning and it went well.  On the way home, I decided to stop at the new bagel shop.  Turns out that they are closed on Monday, but the owner GAVE me a half a dozen bagels, some plain and some whole wheat!!!!! I went home and had lunch and took a nap.  Shortly after I got up, Mary Turk knocked on the door to tell me that when she was walking by earlier, she heard my alarm going off.  Jan picked me up at five p.m. and we headed out to CAMP KENAN for paint night.  It was a fun evening.  I am not really happy with my painting, which is below, but I had fun. Joanna leading the class. TUESDAY, JUNE 8th I had to deal with the DOG CONTROL OFFICE and Kevin Layer this morning, as well as email the lawyer regarding a notice sent to Mary Anne (that came to my house) stating that if Maggie is not licensed within the next week there will be a court appearance.  Kevin told me over the phone that Rita t...

Church was pretty good this morning.  New members were given certificates.  Peggy passed out new CONNECT Directories to the seniors.  After church I took Peggy's friend, Bev. to the convenience store near her apartment and then to her apartment.  Then I met up with Betty at THE OLIVE LEAF where we had lunch.  I went to Niagara Produce to get a few items before going home. Mike and Dominic came over to get a few boards out of the garage.  Then I found CROWNSVILLE HOSPITAL (a documentary) on the new ROKU TV.  I started dozing off, sitting up, so I decided a nap was in order.   When I got up from my nap, I saw that Betty had called a little while before so I called her back.  She wanted to take a walk, so while I got ready, she walked over to my house and we walked to LAKE EFFECT ICE CREAM.  I had a cherry vanilla popsicle.   I watched an episode of CRIMINAL MINDS and then decided to see if I could log in to HULU on th...

Peggy and David came over in the morning and carried the old TV out to the back of my car and then Peg and I took it to the drop off station at Outwater Park.  It was quick and easy.  Then David checked over my alarm system.  I am not sure what he did but it is now working well.  Cassandra called to wish me a Happy Birthday.  David put up four new motion detector lights around my house.  I am very well covered now.   Paula picked me up at one p.m. and we headed to HOAKS in Hamburg.  I was a little concerned when we arrived because every parking spot was taken, but we got our table quickly.  I ordered baked (or maybe broiled) shrimp and scallops which came with ONE side, I chose mac and cheese.  When I saw how small my meal was I quickly added in a side of coleslaw.  Paula had the fish fry which was HUGE, and she gave me a small piece and it was very good.  HOAKS is right on Lake Erie and offers an outdoor seating sec...

I called the History Center and registered for the Car Scavenger Hunt.  I made an appointment to have my hair cut.  I cancelled the colonoscopy and will reschedule after seeing Dr. Chubineh.   After my haircut and a few errands, I had a light lunch at home and took a nap.  Betty picked Peggy and I up and we all went to THE FIELDSTONE.  They treated me to a birthday supper.  I had the baked fish florentine.  It was very good.    After we dropped Peggy off, Betty asked me if I wanted to go home or for a ride.  I don't think I really gave her an answer, but we ended up taking a nice drive out to WILSON HARBOR.   I took this picture in order to save the date.   We walked out on the pier.  There was a nice breeze.
