 I got to FREEDOM CHURCH a bit early in order to pick up the basket that Peggy won for me last Saturday.  I say she won it for me because after she had deposited her tickets, she asked me if there was anything that I really wanted. I pointed out a basket with some Christmas items because I liked the placemats I saw.  She put some tickets in for that, and she won it.   During the Life Group I brought up again the idea of going to the Kenan Center Gallery for INTO THE WILD, an art and photography exhibit that opened a couple of days ago.  I described it and asked if anyone wanted to go.  At first nobody raised their hand, but then Cindi said she wanted to go.  Most likely she was feeling bad for me just before she raised her hand.  Then Marlene said she needed a ride home, and Betty said she would go to the gallery with us and take her home after.  The Life Group went on for an extra half hour A bunch of us went to Wendy's for lunch, I thi...

 I had my appointment with Dr Ken Kurbs, my chiropracter at ten a.m. this morning, but I didn't get in until 10:30 or so.  Then I went to WalMart, mainly for eggs, milk and bananas, but I got several other items.   I was particularly happy to find these:   I ate one on the way home!!!  They are pretty good for Lactose Free. I emptied the shelves at the end of Carrie's bed and rearranged them and threw a few items of clothing away because the elastic in the waistbands had all dried out. I prepared myself a real supper:  yellow rice, a pork chop and peas.  It was really good.  

 I was using facebook early this morning and saw an interesting recipe for "crustless peach pie".  I knew I had enough time before church to try this recipe.  However, I did not have enough canned peaches so I substituted cherries and pears.  I am saving it here for possible future use.  Another recipe suggested adding a tbspoon of baking powder OR using self rising flour. Church was great.  Jan and I went to Mark's Pizzeria for a slice of pizza after church. Betty, me, Pam and Jan met up at the Kenan Center at three p.m. for a SKYHUNTERS event.  Peter Lotz conducted a RAPTOR FLYING DEMO.  It was really interesting.  I think there were about fifty people present, in the yard outside of the mansion.   Jan came over and we finished watching TRAINWRECK Woodstock 99. I talked to Peg on the phone in the evening.  I will go with David to Millers on Thursday morning in order to get the lobster and scallops.  I will also get sandw...

 Late this morning Peggy and I went out to HOSPICE to visit our Aunt Hiroko.  She has been there for several months in the long term care wing.  When we attempted to buzz ourselves in the front door, Peggy was told that the family had requested that she not be allowed to see Hiroko.  I was allowed to go in.  We had a nice, but short visit.  Hiroko did not seem to know why Peggy was not allowed to go in.  When I left, Peg was on the phone with our cousin, Judy (Hiroko's daughter) discussing the situation.  Peggy had also called our brother Mike, and he was shocked.  Peggy thinks that Roger (Hiroko's youngest son) does not want Peggy to attempt to get Hiroko and Judy reconciled.  I wish he was a bit more sensitive to his mothers and sister's needs.   We went back to my house, and I retrieved a m phone message from Jan.  She was wondering if I was planning on going to COMMUNITY IN UNITY, a Christian event at Altro Park. ...

8/11   My first full day at home following my Glacier trip.   I met up with Peggy and Elizabeth at Elizabeth's apartment and we continued our study of the book of REVELATION with Perry Stone.   It went well.  Betty gave us the news that she will be getting shots in her knees next month.  In the past when that topic came up she said she would NEVER do that, but her new doctor recommended it!  I am so happy for her.  I have been praying that she would make good decisions about what to do about her painful, arthritic knees.    After that, I went to Niagara Produce and purchased a few items including a BOW and prepared salad for my lunch.  I rested in the afternoon, continued working on unpacking.  I can't find the t shirt I bought in Glacier; I hope I didn't leave it in the hotel room, but I think I must have.  I talked with Myrna on the phone in the evening and also worked on labelling pictures in flickr. 8/12...

 8/9  It was an uneventful day punctuated by going to the dining car for breakfast and lunch (I had oatmeal for breakfast and I had the loaded baked potato for lunch) and looking for toilets that worked!!!! Marlene slept most of the morning.  Ainsley never turned my bed back into seats, but after a while I didn't really care.  I laid down for a while after lunch. I got off the train in Winona, Minnesota (Marlene appeared to be sleeping so I did not disturb her) and took a few pictures, one of an old empty building and one another of the Amtrak station.   When we got to Chicago, we were not able to get a ride for ourselves and our luggage, so we walked to the station and by then we were pretty close to the Metropolitan Lounge, so we walked to it.  We settled in for a bit and then I stored my backpack in the room provided by the lounge and we went to the food court and we both got food from Chik-f-let, which was very good.  It was a delight to use...

 Monday the 8th:  Marlene had an upset stomach, so she did not want the buffet breakfast.  Our server graciously found her a banana in the kitchen, and we did not get charged for it.  For the third time, I thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast buffet, concentrating on the pancakes with huckleberry syrup!!!  They are so good!!!! Just for the record, I enjoyed these three mornings in a row! We were "shuttled" from the lodge to the train station, along with our luggage.  Our train was only 25 minutes or so late.  We were happy to see Ainsley, who also was our "attendant" on the ride between Chicago and Glacier. We got settled into our roomettes (the ones without toilets). We were NOT happy to find out that the toilet in our car did not work meaning that we had to walk downstairs to other cars to use one, and later on in the day, they stopped working so we had to go even further (still downstairs) to find working toilets.  WHAT A MESS.
