Saturday, October 8th and Sunday the 9th, 2022

SATURDAY:  I hardly got any sleep last night.  I went to WalMart to get some bananas and eye drops and I purchased a small air fryer.  I had some coupons from SUBWAY.  Peg was at my house, working in the garage, so I called her and asked her if she wanted to split a lage sub for lunch.  She told me what she wanted and I stopped and picked up an ALL AMERICAN CLUB (one of the new sandwiches) without the bacon on it.  Peg and I had lunch together.  I took a nap in the afternoon.  Shortly after I got up, Betty called and wanted to take a walk, so we walked for about 35 minutes.   SUNDAY:  I went to church and then came home and made some baked beans, pea salad and macaroni salad to take to ASP tomorrow, and continued packing.

Thursday, October 6th, 2022 PERRY STONE and more and Friday the 7th

Peg, Betty and I did our last video session of the Perry Stone Revelation study, at Betty's house and then we went to the FIELDSTONE for lunch.  I spent the rest of the day at home, relaxing and getting ready for the Allegany trip.  In the evening, Lori came over to give me the four books about ASP and I gave her a set of twin sheets and wrote down some information she will need.   Cindi, Jack, Ursula and James picked me up a few minutes before four and we headed to Buffalo.  We had a nice supper at OLIVE GARDEN, one I had never been to.  The play was at Dameon College, in the MusicalFare Theatre.  It was really good! When the play was over, there was live entertainment in the lounge outside of the theatre, and the star of the show, Renee Landrigan (daughter of Jack and Cindi Landrigan) came out.   It was a great evening.

Desiderata

Yesterday at lunch, my friend Glenda Cronkite mentioned this poem and recited  a bit of it.  I remembered reading it but not much of it, so I located it on the internet today. Go placidly amid the noise and the haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant, they too have their story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time. Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery. But let not this blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high idea...

Tuesday, October 4th, 2022 Life Group and More and Wednesday the Fifth

TUESDAY I attended the Ladies Life Group this morning.  It went very well, even though we were missing a few people.  Karen is travelling and Jan is not feeling well and Maggie depends on Jan for a ride.  After the meeting was over, four of us were discussing where to go for lunch.  I suggested CHIAVETTA'S, since yesterday I noticed that they have a nice seating area, with tables for six.  So, it was Cindi, me, Betty and Glenda who met there.  I did not want chicken (which is their specialty)  because that is what I had yesterday, but I saw the BEEF ON WECK meal for eleven dollars on the specials board, for eleven dollars, so I ordered that, it came with two sides and two dill pickle spears.  It was VERY good.   Before leaving Chiavetta's, Cindi and I discussed plans for our trip to Allegany. Cindi will bring green salad ingredients and chicken salad for sandwiches.  I will make a macaroni/tuna salad and baked beans.  We ...

SUNDAY:  Pastor Craig introducing this woman who talked about the Ugandan Water Project  I was on facebook for a little while before going to church and I got a notification from th FORSYTH TAVERN that the antique shop in their barn was open yesterday and today.  I don't know why I didn't see this notification yesterday but was glad to see it today.   After church, I did not hang around to see if any of my friends were going out to lunch, I went home for a few minutes and had a snack and used my bathroom and then headed out to Warren Corners.   JAY BIRD antiques is really neat, lots of really old stuff. I found an item that I have been hoping to find, to replace the one that I broke:  I don't think it is really an antique and I found this cute little Pyrex dish I asked the man running the shop if I could walk to the cemetery and he said I could, even though the entrance was roped off.  It is the cutest little cemetery.   Right behind it...

Saturday, October 1, 2022 COUSINS GATHERING

Image
I thought I might go to LOCKTOBERFEST for a short time this morning, but I didn't.  I did a few things around the house and located a few pictures to take to the gathering at Judy's house.  My first cousin Judy and her husband Doug hosted a get together for my four siblings, our cousin Chip and his girlfriend, Krista.  She provided a lot of great food which we ate on her huge back patio.  I contributed a ROSA MARINA salad.  At the end we took some COUSINS PICTURES. We passed around and looked at old photographs and had a great time together.  I was delighted to see these pictures of my grandparents Niethe on a camping trip.  Look at my Gramma sleeping on the ground!!! A highlight of this gathering was when my brother Mike gave our cousin Chip (his real name is Norman after his father) his fathers duffel bag from his time in the army.  Mike found it at a yard sale several months ago.

FRIDAY, September 30th, 2022 Great Day in Buffalo with Jan

Image
I met up with Jan at her place at ten fifteen a.m. and we headed to Buffalo.  Jan had mentioned going to the ERIE BASIN MARINA someday, so I suggested that we could do it today.  She and her kids have spent a lot of time there when they lived in Buffalo.  It is a beautiful place, offering a great view of the Buffalo Lighthouse.   The observation tower. A little beach which is closed now.  You would have to climb past NO TRESPASSING signs and over huge, jagged rocks to get down to it. I don't know what this orange topped building is. We walked back to the car, but continued walking to the huge ships and monuments to those who have served and given their lives.  We also saw the huge ship Olympia ? that had been sinking but was saved earlier this year.   WE kept going and came to this place where a replica of the Erie Canal Boat SENECA CHIEF is being built by volunteers to commemorate the bicentennial of the opening of the erie canal. ...
