MONDAY   I went to the library and Niagara Produce before meeting Jan at the Y.  We walked a total of 45 minutes or so. We ran into Horace, Sarah and Carol Wilson.   I got gas at Housels before going home.  I had the piece of pizza (deep dish) that I bought at the Molinaro's place in Niagara Produce a few days ago.  I did not really enjoy it and part of it went into the trash.  All of a sudden after eating and picking the kitchen up, I felt terribly tired, so I found a podcast to listen to and laid down.  I must have fallen right asleep and slept for an hour or an hour and a half.   For supper I baked a huge potato, steamed some broccoli (that I purchased at Niagara Produce this morning) and pork cube steaks.  I sauteed some onions, then I dredged the steaks in flour and Trader Joes seasoning and browned them in the same pan.  I lined a flat square casserole dish with foil and put the steaks in, with the onions on top, as well as some fresh mushrooms, a dollop of sweet pepper relis

FRIDAY:  I neglected to put my car in the garage, so I had to spend ten- or fifteen-minutes cleaning the snow off it first thing this morning.   Elaine called quite early, since she was concerned that her cousin Jill might not follow through on picking her up and taking her to physical therapy.  I offered to drop her off there and then go to my appointment, but her cousin texted her and followed through.  I first went to the post office to retrieve a letter from Person Centered Services that did not have enough postage on it.  I paid the $1.11 and then stayed to look the documents over and mail it back to Carrie's case manager, Breanna Chandler.  I headed out to AAA but I was early so I stopped at TOPS to buy a box of Bisquick.  I ran into Sheila there and we talked for a while.  I told her about the necklace with the Adirondack charms on it that belonged to Mary Anne and she is interested in it. I met up with Marlene at  AAA and we met with Kayla and started planning a trip to St.

Tuesday January 24th 2023, with Elaine and Wednesday the 25th and Thursday the 26th

TUESDAY:    I picked Elaine up and we went to the Ambulatory Center on Sweet Home Road for her surgery/procedure.   After she registered, we had to wait quite a while until they took her in.  I read my book and had a snack while she was having the surgery, which I think took about an hour, maybe a bit more.  Then they called me into the recovery area.  We were in there about a half an hour or so, while instructions were given and Elaine continued recovering.  She was pretty woozy and felt like going to sleep.  A nurse helped her out to my car.  When we got back to Lockport, I offered to stay with her for a while.  She agreed.  I prepared lunch for both of us, and called her sister Marsha to report on the results, etc.   When I got home, I had a message from Kayla at AAA and I returned the call and set up ten thirty Friday morning to meet with her regarding setting up a trip for me and Marlene to St. Augustine, Florida.  I called Elaine in the evening to check on her.  She is doing well

SUNDAY:  After church, which was very good, Glenda and I had lunch at Burger King, we both had the $5.00 meal deal that has been advertised on TV:   Whopper, Jr. 4 chicken nuggets, fries and a drink.  I went home and rested a little while and then got ready to go to the PALACE for the radio play THE GREAT GATSBY.  I met Jan, David and Peggy there.        Jay Gatsby is on the right in these two pictures.     David and Peggy sat up on the stage, but they were stuck back in the corner.  You can see David's head in this picture. Some of the actors performed a bit before the show, as they entered the lobby. I liked the DOORMAN the best!  He held the door open and welcomed people to the PALACE.   MONDAY:   First thing this morning I decided to use the pea soup mix from Millers that Peggy gave me yesterday, so I put it in the crockpot.  I had my appointment at Great Lakes Imaging this morning to have a second Doppler.  The tech spent a long time and I had the feeling that she was looking

THURSDAY:  I got up early to get ready for the day and to call Oxbow to find out the plans for Carrie's appointment. I met up with Zoie (the new Medical Liaison) at Cayuga Day Hab and the three of us met up at Mount St. Mary's Hospital.   Carrie had her arms and elbows x-rayed.   She did very well.  She has complained of some pain in her right arm and here primary care physician ordered the x-rays.   When I got back to Lockport, I went to Rite-Aid and picked up two prescriptions and then to the library to pick up the book THE GREAT GATSBY.  I had lunch at home, and Peggy called, saying that she wanted to come over and look for something in the basement. I had a lot of LITTLE BAKERY bread left from the loaf I purchased at HOOVERS last week.     In the evening, I read more and watched an old episode of LAW AND ORDER:  SVU.  I found out today that Rene Bowler (Dan Bowlers wife) passed away at Lockport Hospital today.  She lasted about a week after Dan died suddenly.   NEW BREAD

TUESDAY:  There was a somewhat smaller group at the LADIES LIFE GROUP this morning.  Both Jan and Betty stayed home.  Jan has a sore shoulder and Betty just did not feel like going.  The group went well and we finished up around twelve fifteen.  Four of us (me, Karen, someone else and Cindi) went to COUSINS CAFE for lunch.  I had a turkey club and fries.  Both were good.  As we were finishing up, Becky Austin came in.  I motioned for her to join us, but she said she had to work on something so chose a different table.  I paid my bill (and also paid for Becky's) and joined her.  It was very clear to see that she was very stressed out.  I asked her if she had delivered Dan Bowlers rifles to the Niagara County Sheriff and she said that she had done that.  She was working on Dan Bowler's obituary, and she was very frustrated.  Her sister Betsey agreed to pay for it, but each word costs almost two dollars, so she wanted Becky to shorten it up.  After a couple of minutes, she asked

SATURDAY:   I was still in bed, on the www, when I came across the information that the PALACE THEATRE is having a BOGO (buy one, get one) sale of tickets to see the radio play THE GREAT GATSBY.  I was wondering if I should pursue this, since Jan had mentioned that she would like to see it but did not want to pay $28.00.  Peggy happened to call right then and after we discussed a few other things, I asked her if she and David might be interested in going.  We hung up, and I called the Palace to see if tickets could be purchased from the box office, while Peg discussed it with David.   By time Peg called back to tell me she and David would like to go, I knew that Jan wanted to take advantage of the BOGO.  Peggy used her credit card and purchased four tickets online for $78.  Turns out the price Jan had was lower than the actual price.  We have orchestra seats, third row, right side in the middle.  I called Jan and told her the good news.  Both she and I owe Peggy $18.00.  I am pretty e

THURSDAY:  I met up with Jan at her place this morning so that she could drive she and I to THE HOPE PROJECT.  We went and each of us found a few items.  Then we went to Bath and Body Works.  I purchased a Christmas item on sale 75 percent off.  I think it is a candle holder, but I may use it for something else.  We were walking in the mall and noticed a place that interested us, so we went in to check it out.  A man named Marty greeted us and told us about it.  It is SLEEP IN HEAVENLY PEACE, an organization that makes beds for children who need them and deliver them.  They have been doing it for about two years and rely on volunteers.                           Marty showed us around.     This man is talking to a school group who just completed a project. On the way out, we stopped at a small shop called BOHO NOUVEAU, full of handmade items mostly jewelry.  Jan purchased a necklace.   As we were leaving the mall, Jan asked me if I wanted to stop someplace else.  I asked if we could go
