Easter 2021

Image
I arrived at church early in order to help with the "Continental Breakfast".   We offered coffee, tea and hot chocolate at the coffee bar and had "sweets" set up at a table across from that.  I was in charge of the hot chocolate, but not many people were interested in it. Most people wanted REGULAR coffee! The service was very good.  The stage was decorated beautifully. This is the first Easter morning service that I have been to at FREEDOM CHURCH.   Pastor Ben and Pastor Craig did a great job. Other years I had Carrie home, but this year I decided to wait until both Carrie and I are fully vaccinated, and then I will bring her home for a weekend.   After church I rested a bit and changed into jeans, and then I put the macaroni and cheese in the oven and mixed up the glaze for the lemon cake.   I packed everything up and drove to Peg's place at three p.m. Our meal consisted of ham with raisin sauce, macaroni and cheese, cornbread,...

Saturday, April 3, 2021 At Home

I took a few phone calls from Peggy this morning.  She wanted to firm up our plans for Easter dinner together at her house tomorrow.  She and David will provide the ham and sweet potatoes.  Peggy wanted to find out what else I was bringing.  I told her "I am bringing everything else".  I also told her that I want to provide a full meal to take to Betty, so she said she would get a couple of carry out containers from the church kitchen.  We agreed on dinner at three p.m.   I finished up the devilled eggs, made a lemon cake, and corn bread and macaroni and cheese.   I will finish up the coleslaw first thing tomorrow morning.   I also cut up carrots and put them in the crockpot with orange juice, but these are for my supper today.  I am disappointed in the lemon cake.  It came from a boxed mix that I bought at Trader Joes.  I can't even detect the taste of lemon.  Maybe it will be better after I put the g...

GOOD FRIDAY 2021

Image
I stayed in bed late this morning, reading and on FaceBook.  After breakfast, I called Peggy and offered to go in to FREEDOM SOUTH to finish cleaning up the kitchen from the funeral meal.  First she said OK to that and then she changed her mind, so I stayed home.  I decided to get a head start on tomorrows Easter cooking, so I chopped up the cabbage for coleslaw, hardboiled the eggs for devilled eggs and made the raisin sauce for the ham.   I napped in the afternoon and finished reading NOMADLAND.   I went to the GOOD FRIDAY service at FREEDOM SOUTH.  Betty had asked me to save her a seat.  She and I and Marlene sat in the same row.  Marlene had a bad fall a day or so ago, coming out of her dentist office, she slipped on some ice and banged up her left leg and foot.   A few minutes after I got home from the service, the phone rang and it was Connie.  She wanted to thank me for the book I sent her a week ago or so....

BUSY, BUSY Thursday: Diane's Funeral, etc.

Peggy's LIFE GROUP was this morning.  Present were Peggy, myself, Bobbie and Elizabeth.  It went very well.   During the meeting, Peggy got a text from Vicky telling her that Myrna's daughter brought her home from the hospital this morning.  The severe pain Myrna was experiencing had to do with constipation and difficulty urinating, and both issues have been resolved.  PRAISE GOD!!!!  After we finished up, Betty and I stayed and started setting up for the funeral meal later on.  We put salad dressings in small cups and tablecloths on the tables, etc.  When I left I went to Aldi's to purchase lettuce and spinach for salads.  Then I went home and had lunch and rested for a bit before returning to the church at five p.m.  Betty, Peggy and I finished setting up.  I put the green salad together in large containers and then made up individual salads. Here is what the youth sanctuary looked like when we finally got it ready for ...

Wednesday, March 31st TAX DAY

Image
After mailing out the estate income tax, and making a deposit at NorthWest Bank, I went to the Dale Association to have my income  tax completed.  I waited in a large room with some other people and the preparer came in and asked me some questions and took my documentation.  About 45 minutes later, he returned and told me that I did not have to pay anything and I would not be getting a refund.  He said I really do not have to continue filing income tax and that now that I have filed for 2020 I should get my $1,400 stimulus money soon.   I had a strange phone call from a source claiming to be AMAZON, regarding a purchase made today, I think about three hundred dollars.(which did not happen).  Amazon was looking for Peg, so  I called her, and then called David (at her request).  David thinks it is a hoax.    I think he should have called Amazon and checked things out because he often orders stuff online, and I figure he must hav...

Tuesday, March 30th, 2021 Life Group, etc.

I went to the LADIES LIFE GROUP at Freedom South this morning.  There were nine or ten of us there, and it was a good gathering with lots of good discussion.  Unfortunately, we got some bad news about fifteen minutes before the group ended.  Pastor Ben came down to tell us that Diane Fritton had passed away.  I knew her, but not really well.  At times, she was part of this Life Group and I had worked with her in the kitchen a couple of times for various events.  She had been battling cancer and complications from that for a few years.  She died peacefully and her family was able to be with her.   I realized how beautiful it was outside when I left the church, so I called Paula and asked her if she wanted to meet me at the refuge.  She said she couldn't since she had to pick her brother up from work.  He hit two deer a few weeks ago and totaled his car and has not yet purchased a new one.   I picked up lunch at BK and...

Monday, March 29th, 2021

I went out to get a few groceries that I need for Easter dinner.  I also dropped off some food at the food box in front of  the church on East Avenue.  I never can remember the name of it.  Their food box was totally empty.  I mailed some articles about the refuge to Leslie and an anniversary card to Christa and Nik. I watched a lot of the Derek Chauvin trial on TV off and on when I was home.  I got an email from Marianne Koenig, the lawyer for Mary Anne's estate.  She said Kevin picked up the bulk of his money this morning and also that he wrote a negative review of the law office on google.  In the email, she seemed to be concerned that I might be dissatisfied with how the estate has been handled.  I emailed her and reassured her that I have not had any concerns or complaints.  I have never told her the whole story about the things Kevin has said and done like telling people that he and I are co-executers (NOT true) and taking th...
