Saturday, December 11th, EIGHTH FULL DAY of QUARANTINE

Image
Last night before going to bed, I located candles, flashlights and matches in case I need them tomorrow. First thing this morning, before having breakfast, I went outside and prepared for the high winds expected later on today.  I put a few garbage cans in the garage, put two of them between the garage and Mr. Whalen's fence, secured lawn chairs and moved branches to a spot where they won't so easily be picked up by the wind and secured a few other things.   I checked Facebook and it looks like the CHRISTMAS MARKET at Freedom North will still take place.  I hope everything goes well.  Peggy is going to purchase some food for me and bring it over.   I finished watching CENTENNIAL on Hulu on my ROKU TV.  It is a really good 12 episode miniseries from 1978 and 1979.  Leslie recommended it.  I will have my free trial of STARZ (an add on to Hulu) for a few more days so I hope to find a few good movies to watch.   I decided to do a l...

FRIDAY December 10th, 2021 December Sure is Dragging on.........................

Image
When I got up this morning, I felt pretty good except that I thought I might be feeling a tightness in my chest.  I had the same feeling yesterday.   I looked for an inhaler, and could not find the newest one which I think I got in late 2016 or early 2017 (I remember because I asked Dr. Varallo to order one for me so that I would have a fresh one to take to Israel in February 2017).  I found several that all had expired several years ago.   I decided to call Dr. Danaher's office to schedule a POST COVID CHECK UP, and the nurse asked me about shortness of breath and I told her about the "tiny" tightness in my chest.  They called in a new prescription for an Albuteral Inhaler to Rite Aid.  Rite Aid called ate 3:20 to say it is ready.  Betty picked it up for me.  I am not sure I really need it, but it is a good thing to have.  I have an appointment with Dr. Danaher next Thursday at 11:45, which means I will have to leave the FREE...

Thursday December 9th, 2021 STILL QUARANTINED at home

I don't seem to feel as good as I did yesterday.  I continued watching CENTENNIAL.     I talked to someone at GENERAC about the possibility of Zenn and Ritter installing a Generac  generator.  Peggy and David said they will pay part of it.  It is over $8,000.....,the one I want that would cover usage of my air conditioning system.  That is pretty important to me.   I scanned my vaccination card and saved it in flickr and here it is:   Peggy called after the FREEDOM GROUP.  She said the group decided to bring breakfast items to share next Thursday since it is the last meeting.   She read the list of who is bringing what.  I will bring turnovers or muffins, or maybe bagels.   Betty picked up some small cans of Cream Soda and brought it over to me.  I talked to both Sue R. and Connie in the evening.  As the day progressed, I felt better and better.

Wednesday 12/8/21 DAY FIVE of Quarantine

I saw this recipe on Facebook (in the Old Fashioned Recipe group) and decided to try it since I had all the ingredients and I feel less tired than yesterday.    Inn of Silent Music  Bed and Breakfast Tylerton, Smith Island, Maryland  Heritage Recipe SMITH ISLAND BAKED CORN 1 can cream-style corn 3 eggs 1/2 cup sugar 2 Tablespoons cornstarch 1 teaspoon vanilla 1/2 stick butter 1 can evaporated milk Beat eggs in bowl. Add corn, sugar, melted butter, vanilla, and cornstarch. Mix together, then stir in evaporated milk. Put in greased baking dish and bake for 1 hour at 350 degrees.   I found CENTENNIAL on Hulu, I had to sign up for a seven day free trial of STARZ to get it.  I was not asked for credit card information but I think I should tell Christa and Nik about it, since it is their Hulu account.  Turns out Centennial is a mini series, 12 episodes.   The Smith Island Baked Corn is very good.   If I make it again, I will cut way back ...

Tuesday, December 7th, 2021 Fourth Full day of QUARANTINE

I took two sleeping pills last night, but I don't think they worked.   I went to bed a little after ten and fell asleep quickly, but woke up a couple of hours later.  I got back to sleep and slept until seven a.m. I think.  So, maybe I did get more sleep than usual.  In the morning I thought I felt a little less well than yesterday.  I took one of the little pink allergy pills, but I am not sure it is helping much.  I took a shower and started a load of laundry (mostly the items I wear instead of real pajamas). I continued watching DJANGO UNCHAINED.   Not because I think it is a good movie, but because I want to find out what happens.   What a strange movie. After I started a load of laundry, I put my BRUDER MASK on and laid on the couch.  The mask (which is warmed up in the microwave first and helps with dry eye) shuts out all sunlight.  Peggy called.  She is upset because she spent time with Laura Vigliotti in...

MONDAY, December 6th, 2021 THIRD DAY of ISOLATION

Image
Nothing much new, nothing different.  I tried again to access my Covid test results online, without success.  I called Dr. Danaher's office and was told that they do not have the results yet. Peggy brought over a loaf of bread and three cans of Bean with Bacon soup, and a gift bag for Jan, who had been planning to go to yesterday's luncheon with me.  Elaine called and we talked for a while.  I told her about the Christmas Market at Freedom North this coming Friday.  I am hoping that she and Nancy will go to it. I watched COLD MOUNTAIN ........I thought I had seen it before, but now I am sure I didn't.  It is an excellent movie.  Myrna called and we talked for a while, Later in the day I found this documentary on VUDO.   It is about an abandoned amusement park.  It was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina in 2004 and remains abandoned and empty, only visited by thieves, vandals and urban explorers.  I need to ask Peggy if she and David dro...

Sunday, December 5th, 2021: SECOND DAY OF ISOLATION

Image
I slept in a bit and then got up and prepared banana pancakes for my brunch,  I started working on getting my trash and recyclables together.  I started to get ready to take a shower, but all of a sudden I realized how tired I was, so I rested a bit.  I finished my shower just as it was time for the eleven a.m. service at Freedom Church South to start.  The link on the website did not work, but I was able to get directly into the online service a few minutes late on Facebook.  Steve was singing JOY TO THE WORLD.  I decided to have a light lunch and see if I could find another western movie to watch.  I tried THE HARDER THEY FALL, which looks good, but there are too many MFer's.  I finally  I found THE STOLEN. Alice Eve jumps on a horse and rides into Gold Rush town in this intriguing western. She’s Charlotte Lockton, a well-heeled Brit struggling to settle in 1860s New Zealand with her husband when their baby son is snatched by intruder...
