September 30th, 2021

I attended Peggy's FREEDOM GROUP this morning.  Everyone was present and it went very well.  I gave Peggy back the rest of her book that I just finished reading last night and I told her that a fourth person has been added to my group who will attend the CareNet Banquet next month.   Bonnie had called this morning and said that Crystal Cleri wants to join us.   After the group I went to Rite Aid hoping to get my Xidra.  I was told it is on back order.  First the clerk offered to call the other Rite Aids to see if they could fill my script but then she asked if it would be OK if they only gave me ONE box out of the THREE (three month supply) that I normally get.  I said yes and she said they have one box, but it will take time for them to process it and then they will call me so I can pick it up.   My final technology issue of yesterday was when I received an email (maybe) from NORTONS saying I could add another device.  I was going to go through the process but instead I called Wi

9/29 Exhausting Technology Day

I am going to call today a  BAD TECHNOLOGY DAY and it was exhausting.  I had an appointment with Erin at the Dale Association so she could help me with my new Chromebook.    I was happy when she showed me how to upload pictures from my memory card directly to flickr!!!    Then we checked what files were on the device and found those two movies that I may have mentioned in here before.  She tried to delete them, but was unable.  Then she found a spot which told us that the two movies were uploaded to the device in December of 2018.  She suggested that I take the device back to OFFICE MAX.  So, I did.  The woman in that department suggested that I return at two p.m. when the tech's would be in.  So, I ran a few errands:  WalMart, Post Office (where I sent the book JESUS CALLING to Connie and bought stamps and went to Rite Aid only to find out that my Xidra is not in yet.  I requested it five days ago and was told it would be in Monday afternoon, then Tuesday afternoon and then maybe

Sept. 27th and 28th

Monday the 27th of September:   I stayed home today.  I went outside twice and raked leaves and picked up walnuts.  Both walnut trees are working overtime this year.  I think I may have taken care of HALF of them.I worked on a list to give to Cindy tomorrow of things I plan to take on our "camping" trip to ASP.  I read part of Peggy's book since I hope to finish it before I leave on Sunday October third.   Tuesday:  the 28th of September I went to the Tuesday Morning Ladies Life Group.  We had a pretty good sized group.  Rachel is here in order to help her mother, who she fears is not going to survive various serious health problems.  Diana is 74 years old.  Also, Paula Huntington returned, she had not been to this group for quite a while.  And, Marlene returned for the first time since having COVID.   She appears a bit pale and weak, and won't be returning to work for at least a few more weeks.  I left as soon as the meeting ended since I did not want to go out to lu

APPLE HARVEST FESTIVAL 2021

Image
Betty and I skipped church this morning so we could go to the Apple Harvest Festival in Newfane.  I had been once before several years ago and enjoyed it.  Unfortunately, it is always on a Sunday.   Betty picked me up at 11:00 a.m. and we headed out.  We stopped at two yard sales along the way.    We each purchased a few items at both sales.  I got a book of devotionals to send to Connie, three hats that I really like, some small lights, a small decorative pumpkin. We arrived at the festival site at noon.  We had a bit of difficulty finding a parking spot, since there were SO many cars and people there already.  We decided to have lunch before checking out the buildings, sales and exhibits.    Betty had chowder (which she said was delicious) and I had a beef on weck (which was very good) and we both had apple cake with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.  When I was waiting for mine to be prepared, I noticed that they were cooking the apples like this:   I liked the CIVIL WAR ENCAMPMENT the

OPEN DOORS BUFFALO: September 25, 2021

Image
Peggy mentioned OPEN DOORS BUFFALO 2021 to me a few days ago and gave me some printed information about it.  In the meantime, David decided to accompany us.  He really wanted to go to the ALBRIGHT KNOX  ART GALLERY, but it turned out that it is part of tomorrow's event, not todays and he was disappointed.   I met up with them at their house at ten thirty a.m. and we headed to Buffalo.  Our first stop was BUFFALO CITY HALL.   There was an anti-vax and or/ anti mask protest going on across the street.    I had  been to City Hall before, but it was a first time for them.   The architecture and art in the lobby is beautiful.     Our second stop was Saint Anthony of Padua Church, which was just around the corner from City Hall.  It is a small Catholic Church with an Italian heritage museum in the basement.   Our third stop was Erie County's Old County Hall.    Then we decided to head towards Lafayette Square to find the BUFFALO PRESIDENTIAL CENTER.  We stopped at the BRISBANE BUI

Thursday Sept. 23 and Friday Sept. 24th

THURSDAY : Today Peggy held the first session of her new FREEDOM GROUP.  It is by invitation only, and everybody was there.  This will be my second time going through it.  When it was over, I went to REID'S for a quick lunch and then headed south on Transit for OLD NAVY, FEEL RITE, and WEGMANS.   I found a short sleeved top and a great sweatshirt at Old Navy.  I bought some of the concentrated black cherry drink that I really like, so that I will have enough to take to Allegany.  I bought some items at Wegmans.  I had a bit of an incident while putting my groceries in my car at Wegmans.  When I opened the back of my car, my PIGGLY WIGGLY bag flew out and went under my car.  I figured I would just leave it, and pull up and retrieve it however it blew out from under the car when I was putting my cart away.  I thought the cart was secure so I left it and went after the bag, but the cart then rolled out into the parking lot.  The guy waiting in his car to get beyond me and my antics w

Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2021 UGH

I was supposed to get a phone call from Social Services for a PHONE INTERVIEW regarding my SNAP benefit.  SOOOOOOOOOOOOO even though I was anxious to get my tires looked at, I stayed home waiting for it.  Ten thirty came and went, NO CALL.  So, I went to Beaumans and they found a nail in one of the tires and fixed it.  When I got home, I called SS and was told that those letters are spit out automatically and basically the dates and times mean NOTHING.  That was a surprise to me since in the past, while perhaps a few minutes, the date and time stated in the letter DID work.  So, I was able to leave a message with a worker about this.   I called the city streets department because I figured that AS USUAL, they would NOT come down my street and pick up branches and yard waste.  The guy who answered admitted that they were supposed to do that on my street two days ago.  Anyways, a truck and a few guys arrived within minutes and took care of it.  HOORAY!!!!!! And then Mrs. Martin from Soci

9/20    Today was the day I assigned (made a decision to) to purchase a CHROME BOOK, a smaller laptop that will be easier and lighter for travelling and to also look for a new camera.  I went to OFFICE MAX and found a Chrome Book that was on sale and purchased it.  I can return it within thirty days with the receipt and the original box if it does not meet my expectations.  I did not see a camera that looked right for me.  When I got home, I remembered that I have two digital cameras that belonged to Mary Anne, so I found them and tried to figure them out.  I am pretty sure one of them is broken and I can't turn on the other one. I got the Chrome Book up and running and even figured out how to move pictures from my SD card (from my camera) to the CB and then to flickr.  However, I can't seem to figure out how to delete files including the several Christmas movies that seem to be saved on the CB..............and I had nothing to do with putting them there.   I did a little bit

In the morning, before church, I made potato salad to take to Peg's house.  Maggie messaged me that she is not feeling well enough to go to church.   Church was pretty good this morning.  I sat with Betty and Glenda.   Robyn Brown was back. I rested in the afternoon and made mini corn breads and fruity muffins.  I took them to Peg's house at three thirty p.m.  David had prepared prime rib and lobster tails.  Peggy had baked some sweet potatoes.  So the menu was lobster tails, prime rib, potato salad, sweet potatoes, the breads I baked and baked custard for desert.   After supper, Peggy and I took a walk.  We walked a little over a mile in the Willow Street area.

Peg and I, and often Betty and Becky have gone to this event in the past, and enjoyed it.  Peg and David and I met up at their house, and took my car and went to Hartland for this today.  We had arranged to meet up with Betty and Elaine Edmister.    Usually, the turkey dinner is served inside, but due to the pandemic, they were all take-out, but they had tables and chairs set up outside.  We snagged a table for six.   The meal was outstanding!  They gave me gravy on the side, and desert was apple crisp.  Everything was delicious and I ate every bite.  Becky joined us but we were pretty much done eating when she sat down.  I went back in to look at the baskets  But I decided to not purchase tickets, because there was only item that interested me: a purse in fall colors and I really do not need another purse.   Peg, David and I were the first to leave because we wanted to go to the basket raffle at Odd Fellows Home.   Before leaving, we took group pictures.   At the basket raffle at ODD

Friday, September 17, 2021 Day Trip with Jan

Image
Betty had to do laundry today, so I asked Jan if she was interested in doing something today.  She said she was free and we decided to go to Miller's Bulk Food Store.  After a couple of early morning errands, I picked her up and we headed out towards Wrights Corners to get on 104.  We passed several colorful farm stands offering vegetables and pumpkins.  When we got to MILLER's it was very crowded, and all the carts were in use.  I went out in the parking lot and saw an elderly man emptying his cart and I asked I could take it and he was happy to let me have it. We both got several items.  Then we headed to GOLDEN HILLS STATE PARK.  I asked Jan if she had ever seen the ruins of the DRAKE MANSION and she said no, so we stopped there first.  The ruins are actually on property owned by GHSP.  We walked around for twenty minutes or so checking the remnants out.  They are not actually remnants of the house/mansion.  Most likely they are remnants of decorative stone walls, etc. in t
