Sunday July 31st 2022 Church, Picnic, Supper with Peggy and David and Monday, August 1, 2022

I left a bit early for church and dropped ice cream, hot fudge sauce,  applesauce and potato salad at David's house.   Church was good, it was the last week of "the movies".  The name of the movie was RISEN.  After the movie they were offering orderves in the lobby.  The orderves were not simple things, they were quite fancy.  All I could eat was the vegetables with hummus.  Betty, Jan, Maggie and I sat at a table together and then grabbed two more chairs so Ruby and Lynn could join us.  I think it was their first time at our church.  Ruby is a friend of Betty's son in laws mother, Lela.   I met up with Dee, Robyn and Elaine in the parking lot.  Cindi was waiting for us to meet up with her INSIDE the church but realized she should go outside when she noticed it was ten minutes after one p.m. I rode to North Tonawanda with Cindi and Dee and Robyn rode with Elaine.  We found MAYORS PARK, the location of the graduation party that Lori Rivers was giving for her son Brand

Friday July 29th, 2022 and Saturday, July 30th Community Market and more with Pam

FRIDAY:  I puttered around the house and continued getting stuff ready for my Glacier trip.  I remembered that the hospital cafeteria is now open so I called Betty and asked her if she wanted to go there and have fish for lunch.  She agreed and we decide to meet there at noon.  I called Whirpool regarding the possibility of purchasing a warranty for my new washer and drier.  Lunch at the hospital was good. A huge piece of baked fish, hush puppies, coleslaw and fries for a little bit more than seven dollars.  Betty and I used to go there a lot before Covid, and the cafeteria closed down. SATURDAY:  I worked on packing for the upcoming trip and then called Pam and asked her if she wanted to go to the Community Market.  She did and we agreed to meet up there in a half hour.  I was a little late, and while I was waiting, I ran into my sister-in-law Janie.  We visited for a while before Pam came.   Pam and I were going down the long row at the market when we ran into Peggy.  She said she ha

TUESDAY: I attended the Ladies Life Group at FREEDOM CHURCH.   I think there were ten of us there.  Four of us, Glenda, Betty, Pam and I went to THE FIELDSTONE for lunch.  I had one of the specials: an eggplant sandwich along with the salad bar.  I called Marlene in the evening, and she told me that she has not received our travel documents yet.  We agreed that she will call AAA in the a.m. and I located the phone number for her.  She will call me after twelve thirty tomorrow, after she has called AAA.  Hopefully, we will be able to meet up with the new travel agent (Amanda) tomorrow and finalize our plans.  WE LEAVE for the trip a week from tomorrow.  I talked with Myrna on the phone and got her bad news.  Her PET scan showed that the cancerous tumor has grown.  She may continue a mild treatment.    WEDNESDAY: I went to Carrie's Day Hab program for her yearly LIFE PLAN meeting.  It went well and my concerns were addressed.  After that I went to Wal-Mart to pick up a few items I ne

SUNDAY, July 24th:    Mary and I went to Jordanville to the Holy Trinity Monastery.  I think we arrived shortly after the end of their Sunday morning service, as several people were walking around outside.  Mary and I quickly donned hats and skirts, which are required to go inside.  The monastery door was open and we went in.  There were a couple of monks doing things in the front of the sanctuary but they ignored us.  I took a few pictures. We checked out the cemetery behind the church.  and then went to the Russian History Museum.  The gift shop and snack bar in another building had closed by the time we got there.   Then to the BLUE MINGO for a late lunch/early supper.  We shared an order of three crabcakes and I ordered fish tacos.  Everything was good and it was so nice to sit right on the water.  We checked out Sam's Boatyard, and went to the MINGO MARKET, which is really a souvenir store.  I bought a bracelet to give Betty since she picked up my mail while I was gone.  On

Vera's Wedding 7/23/22

I arrived at COMMUNITY GOSPEL CHURCH about fifteen minutes before the ceremony.  Vera met me in the lobby, and I was able to greet her three grown kids and Michael's wife, Christina.  A little later on I was able to speak with Pete and Bradley.  I was given permission to take pictures during the ceremony and I took a LOT, and they can be found here:   https://www.flickr.com/photos/juneny/albums/72177720300758521 Someone else took these, I think Vera's oldest daughter, Jane.  I was happy to connect with some old friends:  Jackie Yarborough, the Kenyon's, the Dirig's and Pat Follett, and meet some new people.  It was disappointing to learn that not a lot of people returned to church after the Covid shutdown in 2020.  Later on in the day I took Mary for a ride in my car and we picked up meals at Brooks, to take back to her place.

Thursday, July 21, 2022 Going to Oneonta and Friday the 22nd

THURSDAY  I had  an appointnent with a PA at Medwell. She looked at the strange bump on my arm and prescribed a sonogram.  I left there at nine forty a.m. and headed up the Transit towards the thruway.  I stayed on the thruway until Exit 30 for Mohawk and arrived at Mary's house at 3 thirty or so.   Mary and I put an air conditioner in the window in the room I am staying in and I moved some of my belongings in.  We watched THE FIVE on FoxNews.   I walked up to the barn with Mary when she went up to feed the horses because I wanted to see her new horse.   Mary and I went to BROOKS and had chicken dinners and lemon meringue pie for desert.  It was very good, we sat outside in the back and continued our conversations until after the restaurant closed.  Earlier, I purchased a bottle of their BBQ sauce to take home.   FRIDAY:  After breakfast with Mary, I went to Connie's trailer to meet up with her.  I was disappointed to find that she is still living like she just moved in yester

I accompanied Carrie to a dental appointment at ECMC this morning.  I was disappointed when I met up with her to see how horrible her hair looked.  She needs a haircut BAD.  I wondered how she would look wearing a cloth stretchy headband like the ones I wear.  While Sue was checking her in at the dental office, I took mine off and quickly brushed Carrie's hair and put it on her.  WONDER of WONDERS, she let me do that and she kept it on.  She looked SO CUTE!!!  Here she is in the dentists chair.  The dentist appointment went like usual.  She couldn't be coerced to open her mouth long enough for the dentist or her assistant to look inside her mouth.  So, she will be scheduled for another appointment, but she will be pre-sedated.    On the way to day hab, I asked Sue if we could stop at a DOLLAR TREE or DOLLAR GNERAL so I could run in and look for a couple of stretchy headbands for Carrie since I wanted mine back, since it is my favorite one.  We did this, and I picked up a black

I attended the LADIES LIFE GROUP at Freedom Church this morning.  I think there were eleven of us present.  Betty was upset when Cindi interrupted her before she finished expressing her thought about the police response to the UVALDI school shooting.  Cindi's observations were valid, but I would have appreciated her waiting until Betty had gotten her full thought/idea/opinion or whatever out.     Before the meeting started, Cindi asked me if I got her message.  When I didn't respond right away because I was wondering where and how she messaged me..............phone? email? FB or whatever, she said obviously not, but she is on for tonights puzzle competition at the libsrary. I left the Life Group fifteen minutes early in order to go to the Y for the Seniors get together at the Y.  We   There were ten or twelve people there, all female and we played BINGO.  Maggie won this T-shirt and she was happy since it is the first time she ever won at BINGO.   I won the last prize, which w

July 18th, 2022 WHERE THE CRAWDADS SING

Image
In the morning I went to my chiropractic appointment and dropped some items off in the Little Food Pantry near Niagara Produce.   I asked both Betty and Jan if they were interested in going to see the movie WHERE THE CRAWDADS SING, but they were not interested, so it was just Elaine and I who went.  I picked her up at 12:30.  We arrived at the Dipson a few minutes early so we sat outside the theatre for a few minutes before going in.  There were not all that many people in the theatre.  About eight altogether, I think.  I have no idea why a couple chose to sit in the same row Elaine and I were in, meaning they had to climb over our feet and purses to get there.  There were rows and rows of empty seats.  The movie was GREAT!!!!  It followed the book pretty closely. On the way back to Lockport, we decided to stop for a meal.  I suggested the NEW YORK BEER PROJECT since I had a gift card for $25.00.  We each ordered a different sandwich and we shared them.  Everything was delicious!  Neit

SUNDAY, July 17th, 2022 OLD FASHIONED DAYS 2022 at East Shelby Community Bible Church

My plans were to go to the early service at FREEDOM CHURCH, then work handing out cookies for the eleven a.m. service, but I had a terribly hard time getting to sleep last night and was up a few times to use the bathroom, so I reset my alarm clock so that I could get some extra sleep.  It didn't do any good, though. Anyways, I arrived a little before ten thirty a.m. (way too late for the first service) and then I stood at the COOKIE TABLE and handed out cookies.  We had three kinds to choose from, and everyone was allowed to take one.  It went very well.  I left when Peggy came back to put stuff away. I drove to East Shelby where this event was held:   I was able to park fairly close to WEST JACKSON VILLAGE, the miniature village across from the East Shelby Community Bible Church.   I called Betty and she was walking back from her car to the village and we met up quickly.  I had a hot dog, chips and a piece of grape pie!  Everything was one penny, but I paid more..  Elaine also br
