LAST Day of July, 2019

I went to the Y for a bit of walking and then did the SILVER SNEAKERS STABILITY class.  Then went to DOLLAR TREE for several items.  Went home and had lunch and took a nap. Betty picked me up at 4:20 and we drove to Middleport to pick up Liz and then to the Methodist Church in Middleport for their COMMUNITY DINNER.  It was chicken, baked bean and potato salad with ice cream with berries for desert. Betty said it was NOT enough ice cream and that we should go someplace else for ice cream.  We went to MAGGIE MOOS in Medina but found it closed.  We took a roundabout route to HARRIS FARMS on 104.  We stopped at the cemetery in Hartland so Liz could visit her husbands grave.  I also saw Susan Austin's gravestone for the first time. At Harris Farms I treated Betty and Liz to ice cream.  I had the key lime and vanilla twist.  It was not all that great.  Liz's Uncle Bob owns Harris Farms and he was driving around in some sort of farm vehicle.  Betty flagged him down so that he an

July 30, 2019 Olcott AGAIN!!!!!

I met up with Dee, Vicky and Elaine at Faith Tab this morning.  Elaine had scheduled her LIFE GROUP to meet at Krull Park in Olcott Beach and then to have lunch together.  Several others drove to Olcott and waited for us to arrive.  We had a nice spot under a shelter.  It turned out to be a rather cool day with a nice breeze  We had a nice sized group and a good meeting. We had planned to have lunch at the CAPTAINS GALLEY, but it turns out that they are closed on Tuesdays.  So, we went to Gordy Harpers.  I had the fried chicken.

July 28 and 29, 2019

After church, I went to Niagara Produce and purchased groceries.  Then I went home and rested until it was time to prepare supper.  Mary Anne came for supper.  I served chicken nuggets, baked beans, mac and cheese, fresh sliced tomatoes and corn on the cob. This morning I went to the Y for SILVER SNEAKERS SPLASH.   I met Pam there.  I went upstairs after my shower to walk the track, but I found myself very tired, so I went home after reading the paper.  I napped and then fixed supper for Betty and Myrna.  I prepared bbq pork ribs in the crockpot, potato salad, corn muffins and served baked beans.  After supper, we played a few games of BANANAGRAMS.

ART IN THE HALLS: July 27, 2019

Pam wanted to go to the Palace to see SEUSSICAL THE MUSICAL at two p.m. today.  I invited Dee, Marlene and Betty to join us, but that did not work out.  Pam and I agreed to meet at WIDEWATERS for lunch before going to the Palace.  I arrived there a few minutes early in order to take pictures of the nature trail that Betty and I explored the other evening.   This is outside the trail.                                   This is the "trailhead" The trail is very well maintained.  Just beyond the trailhead, there are several birdhouses in an area to the left.                  The sun was right in my eyes so I thought I was snapping a picture of another birdhouse, but I guess I wasn't. Pam joined me inside Widewaters.  I had a burger, fries and a regular sized loganberry drink. We left separately, agreeing to meet at The Palace.  When I arrived, Pam was leaving the box office and she said she had the wrong day.   I suggested we go to the Presbyterian Home f

LORD'S PRAYER GARDEN and OLCOTT SUNSET

Image
I spent the day at home, cleaning and looking for a document, and generally relaxing.  After supper I got bored and I remembered a newspaper clipping that Betty showed for THE LORDS PRAYER GARDEN  in Burt.  I called her and asked if she felt like going for a ride and she said she did, and picked me up about ten minutes later. We drove out to Burt and found it.  I was not as impressed as Betty was.   It is on private property. The LORDS PRAYER is printed out on a series of several wooden plaques.  I forgot to take a picture of them, but I did get many other pics.       I particularly liked this beautiful blue spruce tree. Then we decided to drive down to Olcott Beach.  We found  a bench and relaxed.  We ran into Gail and Bob and talked to them for a while.  We stayed and watched the sunset.   It was a nice evening.

LOBSTER, dinner at Red Lobster (and more)

This morning I met up with Pam at the Y for AQUA ZUMBA.   Amanda led it and it was pretty good.  Then she and I went to Wendy's and Mary Anne met us there, for an early lunch.  In the mid-afternoon I went to the OFFICE FOR THE AGING and got my free Farmers Market coupons. I met up with Jenny and Dee at Dee's place and the three of us went to  the Maple Road RED LOBSTER.      The EAGLE DISTRIBUTING COMPANY put on a free dinner that was accompanied by a sales pitch for their fire prevention supplies.  The meal was great, and the presentation was very good.

July 24th, 2019

I picked MA up this morning and took her to her new lawyers office. I went to the library for a few minutes and returned to wait for her.  After a while I was called into the office and presented with paperwork so that I can be POWER OF ATTORNEY in financial matters, along with Bianca.  I agreed and signed.  Then I took MA back to the Best Western and went home to 17.  A few minutes after my arrival the team from NYCAP came to do the audit on the house.  They were almost finished with the audit when Peg arrived and I left to pick MA up.  I took meatloaf sandwiches and we ate them quickly on a bench outside the BW.  Then we headed to Niagara Falls to Excelsior Orthopedic.  She was taken in right away and her cast was removed and she was given a splint/brace and told that she can drive. We went back to Lockport and to her house where she got her car! I picked Betty up a few minutes before six p.m. and we went to the COMMUNITY PICNIC at Lockport United Church of Christ.  It was a nice

Yesterday I went to the Y in the a.m. for Silver Sneakers Splash and then I picked MA up and we went to lunch at TOMS DINER and then we sat a bit in the gazebo at ALTRO PARK for a bit before going to Dr. Zima for her appointment.  We also stopped at her house and talked with Rita and Kevin for a bit, they were on their way to take a load of bags of junk to the dump on Heath Street. Today we met up for breakfast at her hotel and then headed to Roswell.  She had blood drawn and then went to chemo on the floor above.  Her chemo treatment only takes a half hour but there are lots of periods of waiting for the next procedure to take place.  I think we left Roswell a little before one p.m.  MA wanted to stop at THE TWISTED PICKLE which is right around the corner from Roswell, so we did.  It is kind of a dive, both inside and out, but the service and food are good.  We were able to sit outside at a picnic table and have our sandwiches.  I had the REUBEN, which the guy at the counter

CONNECT LUNCH 7/21/19

I arrived at Faith Tab a half hour early and put together two large green salads for the luncheon later on.  During church I passed out cupcakes for the third week of LETS GO TO THE MOVIES. I don't know what todays movie was, it had something to do with Winnie the Pooh. Peggy decided to move the PICNIC IN THE PARK to the church because of the intense heat and humidity.   It was a nice meal including Chiavetta's chicken, salad, pasta salad, chips and deserts. Then I picked up Mary Anne and we went through Wendy's drive through so she could get a burger and then we went over to her house to get the bags of clothing that we left there yesterday since she is NOT moving in today.  Then I went home for a few hours before picking her up to go to Molinaro's for supper.  Then I went to meet up with Louise at her house.  Our plans were to take a walk, but it was still hot  so we visited on her back deck.

Betty saw in the paper that MILLERS BULK FOOD was having their Customer Appreciation Day TODAY.  I agreed to go with her and she picked me up at 9:30 a.m. and we headed out to Medina.  When we arrived at a little after ten, it was pretty crowded.  We each had a free donut and free ice cream and Betty had a free coffee.  We both made purchases.  Before leaving, I purchased two side dishes of baked beans from a food truck that was serving ribs and other items. We drove down Carmen Road and I pointed out the stone schoolhouse and the haunted farm stand (which is pretty much deserted now).  We noticed HAIGHT'S PARK and drove in to check it out.  It is not a typical park, it seems to be an area where people park their campers year round.   We drove to Olcott Beach and got out for a few minutes before heading back towards Lockport.  We stopped at REIDS and purchased hot dogs and had our lunch there. After Betty dropped me off, I rested for a couple of hours before picking Mary Ann

ONE SONG Concert

Image
I went to Y, then picked MA up and we went to Appleby's for lunch.  I went home and rested up.  Picked her back up at 3:30 and we met up with Kevin and Rita at the house.  Pies came and delivered the couch and mattress and springs.  Then I took MA back to her hotel.  Went home and called Peg and suggested THE SUGAR SHACK instead of COUSINS.  I met her and Aunt Jane there at 5:30 p.m.  I dropped Jane off at her house and noticed that MA had left her BB product in my back seat so I went over to the BW and gave it to her.  Met up with Betty and the others at First Pres for OneSong Concert in Lockport, NY Public   · Hosted by   Ron & Nancy OneSong   and   First Presbyterian Church  Vintage Americana with NYS Country Music Hall of Fame members Ron & Nancy OneSong, accompanied by Jim Hardy on upright bass.

Richard Bowler Internment at Cold Springs, etc/

Image
This morning was the internment of Richard Bowler, who died in Albuquerque earlier this year.  He wanted to be buried in Lockport, where he grew up, so his wife, daughter and son in law flew in to Buffalo last night and stayed in a Lockport hotel. We all met up at ten a.m. at Cold Springs, where a spot was readied for the burial of his ashes. It was Richards wife Anne, their daughter Sally and Sally's husband Joel, along with Becky, Peggy and I who attended.  Becky read the 23rd Psalm and passed these out:   Anne recited THE LORDS PRAYER. Here are a few more pictures. After that I went to pick Mary Anne up and we went to the post office, Pies (so she could finish paying for her new furniture), and then to Carson's for lunch.  Then to WalMart where she purchased sheets, pillows, towels, etc.  We went by the house to see how much of the new downstairs floor is installed. It is not complete yet. Then I took her back to her hotel and came home and took a nap

June 17, 2019

Tuesday the 17th.  met MA for breakfast then we went to Roswell.  We were there several hours.  Then stopped at SEAN PATRICKS for lunch.  We both had BLT's.  Very good.  Once back in Lockport, we went to HOME DEPOT and she picked out a new frig which will be delivered on the 24th. today:  after the Y  (stability class)  I picked MA up and we went to WalMart where I picked up some supplies for her and bought three pullover tops for myself.

SWEET CHALK FESTIVAL July 13 and 14, 2019

Image
My weekend was pretty hectic so I did not get to the SWEET CHALK FESTIVAL while it was on.  So, I stopped this morning on Pine Street to see the drawings in that parking lot.  I did not go to the parking lot on Main Street. Then I went to the Y and walked on the track for a half hour.  I ran into Sarah and she walked with me a bit.  Then I went to SILVER SNEAKER CLASSICS in the gym.  It is a 45 minute class, but I left after 30 minutes so I could find a free shower in the locker room. Then I picked Mary Anne up and we had lunch at Olive Garden and then went to the DIPSON THEATRE to see a documentary.  ECHO IN THE CANYON, about the birth of music in LA.  It was in a film festival before being released.  It had some good music, stuff Mary Anne and I remember from our teen years.   A look at the roots of the historic music scene in L.A.'s Laurel Canyon featuring the music of iconic music groups such as The Byrds, The Beach Boys, Buffalo Springfield, and The Mamas and the

Saturday 7/13 Tuscarora Field Day/Picnic and Salt and Light Festival

Dee was under the impression that there was a Ladies Breakfast at the Family Worship Center in Pendleton.  She called and left a voicemail message that she wanted to sign herself up for it, as well as Betty and I.  However, when we got to the church at the appointed time, it was apparent that there was nothing going on.  The Pastor, who lives next door, came out and told us that it had been cancelled due to his wife having health issues.  Betty and I decided to go out for breakfast elsewhere but Dee decided not to join us.  We went to Hoovers hoping to have the breakfast buffet, but the restaurant was closed  There was some sort of event going on there. We had a very nice breakfast at Tina's in Sanborn.  Then we went to the reservation for the Tuscarora Field Day/Picnic.  We had a nice time there, we stayed a couple of hours.  We checked out all the vendors, watched some of the performances and had a piece of carrot cake. There were a LOT of vendors.  I purchased a key

LOCKPORT IN BLOOM Twilight Walk: July 12, 2019

Image
After the Y this morning, I met up with MaryAnne at her hotel.  We went out for lunch at Wagners, and then we went to St. Mary's Cemetery to see if she could find her parents graves.  We found it easily enough.   The tipped over tree stump is a good landmark for finding it.                                Another view of the cemetery. and we went to PIES and she chose a mattress, box springs and a couch.  They will be delivered when the work at her house is completed.  We also went to WalGreens so she could get more diabetic socks.   I took Betty out to supper at THE SHAMUS using the gift card that I received as a birthday gift.  I had the salmon and she had the baked fish.  We shared a large cream puff.  It was huge and delicious.    Then we went to the TWILIGHT WALK of LOCKPORT IN BLOOM.  I think we went to seven locations, most in the southern end of Lockport, ending with one in the north end.    At most of the places, the owners were out and answered que
