I met up with Peg at Home Depot and we sat down with another Barb, who is an expert on doors, but recently moved to another department.  I think we were switched to this Barb because the new Barb who now works in the door department messed up a bit last week, when Peg and I spent two full hours with her and left without resolving the door purchase.  Anyways, it went well, took only an hour and now the door is on order.   Both Peggy and I feel bad because the other Barb, who we worked with last week, probably had her feelings hurt because we switched who we were working with.  But this project involves a LOT of money and we knew that the original Barb had only been on the job for three weeks and while she was doing her best, it was absolutely GRUELING, working with her.   After I left HD, I went to the Saturday Market and met up with Betty, who had just arrived.  We walked the entire market and I purchased a couple of items.   The market was very crowded.   Then I dropped her off at he

First thing this morning, I went to WalMart to get refunded for the items that were rang up wrong last evening.  I was successful in getting that done quickly.  I also picked up a few grocery items.  I went to OFFICE MAX and purchased an ink cartridge for my printer.  When I got home, I installed the new cartridge successfully and I printed out the new tickets for the GO VAN GOGH exhibit.    I called Myrna and arranged to prepare supper for her and to bring it to her house around six p.m.    I prepared a turkey, stuffing and gravy casserole.  I took some cranberry sauce out of the freezer.  I made a cranberry/pasta salad to go with it and started a batch of cranberry/walnut/raisin cookies.  I have a huge bag of dried cranberries to use up!!!!! Peggy came over after work to help me put the air conditioner in the upstairs apartment.  I suggested that she have supper with Myrna and I.  She agreed and helped me get the hot food into the back of my car and then up into Myrna's apartmen

I went through my jeans this morning and chose several pair to donate to the GOOD WILL.  I still have way too many pairs.  I called Gail and asked her if she would like to go out to lunch and she said yes.  We agreed to meet at THE HILLTOP on 78 in Wrights Corners.  However, when we got there at 12:30, we found that it was closed so we went to CAFORA'S, and had a nice lunch.  I had the eggplant parmigiana which was good.   Peggy called and we set a date to take the Campbell girls to the Buffalo Zoo.  I will pack a picnic lunch. I napped in the afternoon and then I picked Betty up to take her to WalMart since she needed a few things.  Her car is still being worked on.  While she was picking up water and some other groceries, I picked up a pair of long capris and a few shirts. On the way back to her house, Betty and I argued because she criticized my driving again (she said I was driving too slow) and accused me of being scared to drive and/or scared of my car.  I told her that she

Betty still has not heard whether or not her car is ready for her to pick up.   The swelling in her wrist and hand, and the pain, has diminished and she is feeling much better today.  I worked on sorting through clothing in an effort to get rid of some of the excess.  I completed a whole dresser, in which each drawer had three or four vests in it.  I have a bag and a half of items that I will donate somewhere. I called Betty around 12:30 and asked her if she felt up to walking down to the Lockport Community Market.  She said yes, and I told her I would walk over to here place around 1:50 and we would walk from there, since it starts around two p.m.   When we arrived, we found that there were only two or three vendors there, but more were expected.  Betty suggested that we go someplace for lunch.  I had already eaten lunch.  We went to LaPorts where she had one of the daily specials:  chicken parmesan.   I had a Dr. Pepper.  We ran into a slight complication because we had forgotten th

MONDAY:  I decided to do some shopping this morning.  I went to WEGMANS where I purchased soda for Peggy's party, went to FEEL RITE where I purchased Lacto and a few food items and to OLD NAVY where I found a pair of dark blue jeans and three lightweight tops.  I picked up a slice of pizza at Wegmans and that was basically my lunch.   I watched THE TERMINAL with Tom Hanks in the afternoon.   I finished doing Peggy's laundry and put it in my car, so I can deliver it to her tomorrow.   TUESDAY;  I picked Betty up and we went to the Ladies LIFE GROUP at Freedom Church.  I passed out fliers with the info regarding the "field trip" to Niagara Falls aboard the DISCOVERY NIAGARA SHUTTLE.   Eight of us went to THE FIELDSTONE for lunch.  I had an appetizer and the soup and salad bar.   Before going home, Betty and I went to TOPS and we each bought a few items.   UNFORTUNATELY, after I dropped Betty off at her place, she fell going up her front stops.  She thinks she may have

7/25/21 AT THE MOVIES FINALE

Image
Maggie Weeks asked me to give her a ride to church this morning.  So, after picking Betty up, I picked her up at Emmet Belknap where she had walked to.   When I got to church, I was able to talk to Marlene for a few minutes and she said she is feeling MUCH MUCH better, that the steroids helped her almost immediately after she started taking them five days ago. Pastor Craig chose the movie THE CASE FOR CHRIST for this mornings sermon/   I read the book many years ago and also saw most of the movie on Netflix a couple of years ago.  It is one of my favorite books!   Since this was the last Sunday of GOING TO THE MOVIES, I decided to get a few pictures.   Cans of cold soda/pop were offered ate the door and there were snacks available in the sanctuary. Leslie called in the early afternoon and we tentatively set a plan for me to meet up with her in Auburn and we will go to the New York State Fair.   Later on Bonnie B. called hoping I could tell her if SAVOR (restaurant in the Culinary Inst

SALT AND LIGHT REIGNITES FESTIVAL: Saturday, July 24th, 2021

Peg and I met with a technician at HOME DEPOT this morning in order to choose and order a door.  This turned out to be kind of a nightmare with the technician having the wrong paperwork at first, which wasted time.  Then we had a hard time finding a way to order a door that would fit.  Apparently, they don't make the size we need anymore.  Then when Peg, the tech and I went to pick out a lock and doorknob for the door one of her associates thought she was done with her computer and shut down the program in which she was working.  This necessitated starting all over.  All in all, I think we were there for over two hours.   After dropping Peggy off, I went home and called Betty.  I was pretty sure it was too late for us to count on getting a chicken dinner at the Salt and Light Festival, but Betty insisted that if I left right away, we might not be too late.  So, I did leave right away, and picked Berty and Elaine E. up at Elaine's house, but by the time we got there, all of the

I did some chores at home this morning, including rearranging my dining room table and making a couple of other small changes in that room.  At ten a.m. I went over to visit with Louise.  Louise is recovering from COVID and is still on oxygen.  Vicki was there, too.  The three of us visited for over an hour.  Then I went to Niagara Produce and the library.  I napped in the afternoon.  When I got up, I noticed that Peggy had tried to reach me, so I called her and we arranged to take a walk together after supper.  We met up at Lake Effect Ice Cream and walked down to the canal, and saw the statues. Their are more men and a little girl who are in the process of being sculpted and will be added when they are completed.   Peggy agreed to pose!   I think we walked along the towpath for close to an hour.  When we got back up to Lake Effect, I bought a popsicle and we sat on a bench for a while. We discussed ideas for Peggy's party.  We decided on a PEGGY TRIVIA game, which I will put t

I was planning on staying home today and doing several small jobs but Betty called around nine a.m. and asked if I wanted to go to Gasport for a "church sale".   I asked her if it was a rummage sale and she said she was not sure.  I agreed to go and she picked me up about 45 minutes later. When we got to Gasport, we looked for the church but the sale was actually at two homes on the same street, and since the owners planned to give a good portion of what they bring in to a church, they called it a "church sale." I found several items including a brand new pair of sandals, exactly like a pair I already have, two milk glass globes for the lamps Mary Anne gave me, two short sleeved tops, an interesting candle in a glass jar with a top that closes, two lacy tablecloths (one round and one rectangle), a glass dome to put over cookies or brownies, a real nice brand new colorful large stretchy headband and maybe one or two more items.   I think I spent ll or 12 dollars. Wednesday, June 21st

This morning, I called Louise and asked if I could visit her today and maybe bring lunch for the two of us.  She said she will be busy today with her son, but maybe we can get together for a visit on Friday.  I agreed to call her Friday morning.  I had an EYE appointment this morning.  Doc. L wants to see me in three months at which time my vision will be tested for a new prescription.  After that, I went to the Y and signed up for the next craft class and then to Rite Aid where I picked up two scripts.   When I got home, there was a message from Peggy so I called her back.  She asked if I might do a load of laundry for her and David since it appears that both their washer and dryer were damaged by the water in their basement last night.   I agreed to pick up their laundry and do it, and I offered to pick up spaghetti dinners for them from the Royalton Center Methodist Church.    After dropping their dinners off, I went home and had my spaghetti (delicious) and started doing their lau

Tuesday July 20th, 2021 Life Group, AAA, and Hail Storm

Image
The Ladies Life Group was this morning.  Twelve or thirteen attended and then we went to Wendy's for lunch.    Then I met up with Marlene at AAA so she and I could meet with Lynette Wilkenson regarding the terms of our travel voucher which we got after cancelling our trip to Glacier.  It appears that we were even reimbursed for the money we paid for our travel insurance.   We got all of our questions answered and even some ideas for how to use our voucher.  Of course, a lot rests on Marlene's health situation, which is tentative right now.   During the Life Group, Betty and I were kind of roped into setting up a plan for a trip to Niagara Falls on the shuttle, including putting together a flier to be handed out.  So, I worked on that in the afternoon.  We had a short but powerful hail, rain, thunder and lightning storm around 4:40 p.m.  There were larger pieces of hail out there, but I did not want to venture any further than my front door to pick them up.   Around seven p.m.

Picnic Lunch at Day Road Park and Event at the Palace 7/19/21

Image
Early today, I mopped my kitchen floor and prepared a small pasta/vegetable salad for my lunch.   I had lunch with the other girls in the "LUNCH BUNCH", which are girls who graduated from LSHS in 1967 with me.  Present today were Barb, Marie, Liz, Janice, Bonnie and her sister Terry.  We had a very nice time.  We did not set another time to meet. I went home and rested in the afternoon and then spent some time fiddling with my ROKU TV.  I found that I can get PBS LIVE and access a lot of their programs.  I was also able to open an account with NBC, and I was given credits, but I am not sure what exactly that means.  I was not able to register with CBS, my Roku tv claims that Spectrum does not offer that for me.  That is not accurate, but I will try again another time.   I picked Elaine up at five thirty and we met her friend Geri Kay at the Palace for this event:   I was surprised to see Crystal Cleri working the concessions Geoffrey Koplas as William R. Kenan Charles Begley

Sunday, July 18th 2021 OLD FASHIONED DAY at the East Shelby Community Bible Church

Image
The East Shelby Community Bible Church has built and maintains a small village across the road from the church which they call West Jackson Corners which was the original name of East Shelby.  Twice a year (July and December) they offer an event to the community.  Betty and I went to the December event a few years ago and have wanted to go to the July event since then.  We missed one due to a CONNECT event and last year they did not have the event due to COVID.  So, this year we were happy to be able to go.   We skipped our own church this morning planning on attending the Old Fashioned Church Service at eleven a.m. in the East Shelby church.  However, the time printed in the newspaper said eleven, but it started at ten a.m., so we missed all but the final ten minutes, which was VERY good.    The first building  we visited was the West Jackson Church.  West Jackson was the original name of East Shelby. Then we crossed the street and got our lunch.  They had several kinds of pie to c
